This company apparently lifts info from various job boards and sends emails asking prospects to call them at this number.

You know, Lourdes, IF you had a legit appointment, this wouldn't be the forum in which you'd respond. Soo...you're either a really bad rep of the company that spams job seekers or a real idiot! OR, both.

Give us a break, we're smarter than this. Stop wasting our time. We're onto you!

I am researching this company to find out what it is they do. I found this response board and see alot of repeated information, but nothing substantial to tell me who they are and what they do. i am in search of a professional position and would appreciate information from someone who has had an interview or a job with them. Thank you.

Google
Cornerstone America.
Seems to be substandard medical insurance and other sub-deceptive hiring practices.

This is to all people who are interested in or have been associated with Cornerstone America. I started as a rep with them in 2001. I was promoted with great speed with the company. When I left I was a RSL. The reasons this company should be reported here are the fact that the insurance that is offered is SUB STANDARD and is one of the worst policies that I have seen. It is not major medical or even close. It is a Basic Surgical Expense Plan nothing more and a lot less. You can make a lot of money if you sell this garbage for more than it is. Botton line is that if you have any morals what so ever you can't in your right mind sell this to anyone. For all you non belivers out there ask this question... Would I have this insurance for me or my family... if the answer is NO then why sell it to less fortunate people. Last ask any rep to show you thier policy and check to see if it is effictive. You will be amazed at the response and excusses you get for them not having the coverage on themselves. The product has increased in price and reduced in bennifets and is extreamly overpriced for what it covers.

Respectuflly,

Steven

Yes, they are legitimate, reputable is a matter of opinion.  I'd never work for them, there's been a lot of scandal about the way the agents promote the product. They work under many different names, the most common is NASE and Mega.

The plans they push are not major medical, they are hospital certificates. There is a big different when it comes to using the service. Here is a comparison:

Mega (and all the other names) deductible is per confinement, which means if you go into the hospital 3 times in one year you have 3 deductibles to meet. Most plans’ deductible is per year.

Lifetime maximum for Mega is $1 Million. Major medical plans are $2 to $8 Million.
Mega has an annual maximum per illness of $500,000. Most Major medical have NO annual maximums.

Depending upon the policy, Mega will only pay UP to $500 per day if you are admitted to the hospital. Average daily hospital cost - $3000, Average stay – Three days. For the average hospital stay MEGA will pay up to $1500, you will pay $7500.

Depending upon the policy, Mega will only pay UP to $1500 per day if you are in ICU. Average cost - $8000, Average stay – Two days. For the average ICU stay MEGA will pay up to $3000, you will pay $13,000. Since most people (unless they’re dead) have a hospital stay after the ICU stay you can add in the figures from the previous paragraph.

Doctor visits while you are in the hospital is limited to $50 per visit and limited to ONE visit per day. Average cost - $120, Average number of daily visits – TWO. For the average 3 day hospital stay MEGA will pay $150, you will pay $570.

Ambulance transport is limited to $250 per trip and payable only if you are admitted to the hospital. If you are transported to the ER and not admitted - no benefits. The average cost for ambulance - $1000. For the ambulance (if you are admitted to the hospital) MEGA will pay $250, you will pay $750. For the ambulance (if you are NOT admitted to the hospital) MEGA will pay $0, you will pay $1000.

Air ambulance is not covered unless additional rider purchased. Maximum benefits with Mega are $3500. Average cost - $12,000. Your bill - $8500.

Many other limitations for: miscellaneous hospital inpatient charges, inpatient and outpatient surgery, routine physicals, anesthesiologist and more. Plus you have to pay the expensive yearly dues.

Thanks for the warning, I wouldn't waste my time speaking to folks like this; they would not even tell me what the business was when I asked!

Called the number - they are a sales office for Cornerstone America, offering outside sales positions for health and life insurance, www.healthmarkets.com.

A quick Google search indicates they have a lot of complaints filed against them when people have to make insurance claims. Not the kind of company you want to be selling policies for.

Got the same spam e-mail on two different aliases six times this week.  After having requested that they remove me from their distribution list they continue to contact me.

Called both phone numbers and left voice mail on the 206 number, ended up talking to some confused woman from a call center for Orkin in Atlanta Georgia on the 866 number...

I have absolutely no respect for folks like this that resort to e-mail canvasing.

I would suggest to all the people who are receiving this and very similar emails (I have received about 3), that you try to block that "employer" from accessing your resume.

CareerBuilder.com is where I have been receiving these unsolicited emails, identical to others listed here, and the CareerBuilder message provides a link to block that sender from viewing your resume and sending you messages in the future.   That is what I have done.   I don't know if Monster.com or Dice.com have simialr features or not.  Check the Email message for the options.

I too don't know HOW IN THE HEAVENLY WORLD they think a person with 15+ years in Information Technology would have the skills for selling Insurance (or Real Estate, or similar)!!    Most IT people I know don't have the social skills to screw, uh, I mean convince, the public to purchase their product.  And that includes me.

Look to see if the message has an option to block future message from this person/group/company.  CareerBuilder does, maybe other boards do too.

Good luck finding jobs folks, we all need it.

So long as you are still breathing, and can radiate heat over 80 degrees.
It qualifies you for an exciting career in selling financial services.
Their turnover is very high.
I am getting the same worded emails.

Hi I received the same message that everyone else here seems to have gotten.  I am confused as to what/who this company really is.  Are they a staffing firm?  If anyone has any additional information I would greatly appreciate it.  I did schedule an interview for Tuesday but can't seem to get a reply when I asked for their web site, etc.
Thanks
Lori

I got this exact same message and called to schedule an interview. Is this is a scam I need to know about it?

Thank you.

Is this a scam? Only if you think selling overpriced insurance policies with holes in the coverage is a scam. Technically legal, probably, but I couldn't sleep at night if I was selling stuff like this. Google "MEGA insurance" for more info.
