Called a business saying something (in a very heavy foreign accent) about something being late and making payment arrangements.  Gave an account number to mention when calling.

Couldn't understand the caller's name, company name, or exact details on why calling, due to a combination of the accent and a not-so-great phone.

same type of call as the afored mention, but they talk fast and have a complicated name that they only say once at the beginning of the recording.

I'm french,in quebec.I hate them,attacking older people.I had to translate the call,and yup,same thing as everyone,company ambiguious non understandable,but account number was 8thousand 9 thousand (something)and they asked for personal info (dont you think they should allready have that info if you have an account with them?.The women speaking was unprofesional and aggresive.I recomend everyone who receive these calls to not answer,call ur phone company,block the numbers,and keep the messages for the authorities so they can scan the voice and catch the (censored).Im sorry but these things have been going on for too long and it MUST be stopped,thank you

I hate being the stater of the obvious. What company doesn't outsource these days? Anyway I work for Pitney Bowes. That phone number is a line right into our collections group! If we have a wrong number just state that. The agent will update and remove your phone number. If the agent is rude just ask for the supervisor. As for asking for personal information, an agent must verify phone numbers and addresses on every incoming call. So easiest way to stop misdirected calls, say "wrong phone number." Not very many people are mind readers.

I am  mind reader and I can tell you what the call is about by the way the phone rings. Spooky huh! Here is a rule of thumb probably every phone call you receive during these harsh econmic times, if you dont recognize it, dont answer it. Wow.

Well don't outsource to India and leave the jobs in America.  Maybe then we can all understand what we say on the phone.

I did tell them they had the wrong number, but they continue to call!  Tell the damn company that you outsourced to, to knock it off or I will call the Attorney Generals Office!

Ask for the agents supervisor... and if you don't get it, call back. You will get someone that is in America. If you don't, ask for someone that is. They can look you up by the number that was dialed, and remove it, and report it to the supervisor. Do you think that people that work for a huge company such-as Pitney Bowes really like the idea that jobs their friends had, have now been outsourced to another country? It's ridiculous.

I like what mind reader had to say "don't answer". That's exactly what I do if I don't recognize the number. As a matter of fact, I don't answer most 800,866 or other calls. Am I wrong for this; don't think so. With the way the economy is these workers don't understand that people just don't have the funds at that time and shouldn't be harassed!

Read the above posts - then you'll know what company it is. Pitney Bowes is a mail meter machine. It prints postage onto envelopes. Some mail comes with stamps, and some have ink stamps. Those ink stamps are Pitney Bowes or other mail meter companies. Some of those BIG companies don't pay their bills for their usage of the machine so they call the numbers that were last known for contact through a dialer system. IF ITS WRONG, let them know? Common sense people..... move along.

This was from Pitney Bowes.  They claimed my account is past due.

Some weirdo with a foreign unintelligible accent (not the usual Indian) calling about a bill my business owes?  Bull [***].  Scam.  All my bills are paid.  Nice try!

Same type call.  Fortunately I was not in, but got a voice mail I could hardly understand.  Also stated calling about past due account.  Appeared to be chuckling as he made up an account number.

It's Pitney  Bowes.  They've been harassing my mother for a debt left by her 91 yo father when he died.   They refuse to accept that 1) he's dead, 2) the business was dissolved with only debt no assets and 3) he left no estate.   Annoying as hell.

I suggest you make a complain with the Federal Trade Commission who handles the Do Not Call registry.  This is a little different because it is supposedly debt collection and they can call people on the DNC registry if they are trying to collect.
