Or not.  Called to have my number removed last week and to no surprise, got another call this afternoon.  Luckily, not home and went to voicemail.

Federal Law allows consumers to deal only with thier original creditor. You can stop collection calls, by sending a Cease and Desist letter. I fax and send via certified mail. If calls continue you can sue in small claims court.
Visit the credit info center dot com for more information.  Keep records of the date, time of the calls, for future use. The internet has alot of informaton on this subject, KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!
The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, FDCPA protects consumers from illegal acts, harrassment, abuse, calls, you just need to know what it says.
Important point for consumers, the collector on the phone is not the company they are calling for, they are usually, low paid, poorly trained employees. The collection agency, usually stop with the Cease and Desist letter, those that don't and violate the law, sue them, you have nothing to lose, you might win more money then they are calling about due to thier stupidity. The worse thing you can do is nothing!  Good Luck.

Dont call me again

just called asking for Mr or Mrs so and so.  My husband and I have been divorced and not living together for 11 years.  There is nothing that is outstanding from the two of us.  Obviously they are phishing for something and I refuse to answer any calls like this.  Just a scam.

Stop Calling! Get enough calls

Again, my debt has been sold to another company. They call and without an identifier, I NEVER answer my phone. I deal with legitimate companies that don't share who they are and I don't answer them either, but at least they leave a message. LERS NEVER leaves a message. At least they call once every 3 days, not 3 times a day.

They call and leave voicemail of dead air. I can hear the background noise of the office, my phone doesn't allow me to delete messages until I hear them in full so I need to play every message they leave in order to get them off my phone. They don't stop calling, and they leave the same message when they DO SPEAK into the voicemail, as if they have no idea they're calling the same person over and over again.

Please remove my cell number from their list!
