Received numerous phone calls from these stupid people...saying I owe payday loan from 2011..gave me a company name I never heard of..when I ask for documents of proof..I was told payday loans are done over Internet and/or verbally. ...if it was verbally I hate to tell them it is there word against mine...if it was done on internet there should be documents or paper trail....also I do not have a payday loan from 2011..or ever...that is ok I have already filed a police report and contact a friend who is an attorney. ..

Called myself and my Uncle saying I owed for a payday loan from 2012. Asked for proof and to talk to a Supervisor ànd she hung up.

Same company UPG for two weeks called from same number daily 866-446-0645 said I owe payday loan from 2012 company I never heard of and I don't owe any payday loans. I asked for signed contract I got a bold excuse they don't provide them. Also, Calling 2 people I know and now new week using different number 866-586-8097 leaving same claim number

If you call NY attorney general office they will send you a form to fill out..was told the more complaints they get the faster the action. ...

interesting know they are from payday loans, never  ever had a payday loan, but when century link closed local office down, i used a place called katy cash to pay my phone bills. until they send a bill 13 days late- making me have a late charge too, customer care at century link most helpful on that tidbit.. so seems if one uses third party to bill pay do not use a pay day loan place.. i now use walmart for paying the phone bill, wonder  if i start getting 3rd party calls from their service> just not possible to drive to knoxville to pay my phone bill, 45 min drive one way.

Do the stupid people at UPG search the internet. When you Google UPG collection agency..there are 9 pages of fraudulent complaints about them.....I guess they are brilliant and we are all stupid

The same number calls daily 866-446-0645, never said what company they are calling from, but leaving a claim number. I don't owe any payday loans and why are they calling my cell number which is on the "do not call list". Also, they are calling my relatives with various threats and arrest. Please advise who to contact regarding this 2015 scam.

Has called my cell, left no message. Called my mother and left a voicemail saying there was a claim on me (wtf?). She called back and they kept calling her the wrong name. I used to WORK for a collection agency and I know that these are fraudulent calls because they are doing and saying things that are against the FDCPA. Please pass the word to contact the ATTY General's office if you receive calls from these people. Or, tell them to call (202)324-3000. That is the FBI HQ in Washington DC. Worked for a former co-worker of mine.

They are saying I owe a payday loan from 2011 this is not true and it is not on my credit report.

This is a common ploy by criminals attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this,  all for an alleged or nonexistent debt.  One of the tricks they use is to call your work place repeatedly in an attempt to shame you into paying.  They also use the “process server” who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

866-586-8097 has called repeatedly. After the first message left, I returned the call. The lady I spoke to was very rude. She wanted to confirm personal information - Which I declined to do. When I asked her to mail all of the documents relating to the debt owed, she told me she didn't have to that by returning her call I knew the debt was valid. I told her I would send no money until I have papers/documents proving what she said I owed. She said then we will be serving you papers at your house and taking you to court tomorrow. I told her that would be fine, that the sheriff in the county where I live is a personal friend of mine, so he knows where I live. She hung up on me. Since that call, the automated calls still come and have recently starting calling my place of where and the central office of the county school system that I work in. I filed a report with the Attorney Generals' office. Do not fall prey to these frauds. If you owe a debt, they should be able to PROVE it --not threaten and harass!

Gotten several automated calls stating "if you are not -blank- please hang up"  Well, I'm not -blank- but I'm getting several calls a day.  This has got to be a scam.  I'm in Oklahoma and have never gotten any kind of payday loan from those loan-sharks, and it is getting annoying.  What other states is this happening in?

This number called our cell and home phone and left messages for us to call back.  They indicated that we have an outstanding debt they would like to discuss with us. They also indicated that they would be taking legal action if we do not comply.  We have no outstanding debts as we just bought a home 1 year ago and just refinanced our mortgage.  This process is very thorough in reviewing creditors. This number is extortion and harrassment!

A company by the name of UPG has been calling saying we owe money from an on line payday loan, which we never have done. They wanted to settle for half of the debt. They would not give us the name of the debtor, for proof.

These People are IDIOTS i asked what does UPG stand for he says it doesnt stand for anything!!! Really dude. I told him don't call my home again or I am going to FIND him!! This world is has really sick jackbutt holes in it. And it is sad that so many are trying to SCAM people for money. Everyone has it hard from time to time but who makes a career out of trying to scam people for money!!!

Anything originiating with (866) 586-8097 is from a call center located outside the United States.  They pose as a debt collector trying to get in contact with a person whose name will certainly be different than your own.  When you tell them the mistake, they purport to want to correct the misinformation by getting your correct information.  The whole scheme is a scamming technique to get your name, an address, even best of all a credit card number or social security number.  I have contacted the Attorney General from Ohio, who states that there have been hundreds of consumer complaints about UPG debt collectors, their supposed name, but he can't follow up because they are located outside the U.S.  He refers all complaints with UPG to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.  The callers are simply scammers, trying to phish information from recipients who don't know any better.  I would simply put them on the block list for cell phone users, or contact your state's attorney general if the calls persist.

If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money,  tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  You might have to yell at the scammer and talk over him or her.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them .

First two calls that I received were Voice messages reflecting a debt per a Claim representing Midland Financial. The third call was from Patricia Wright (supervisor) stating a claim on behalf of Midland Financial from 2012. I informed them that I received the same call in May and provided names Brian Russell and Spencer Williams representing Manhattan Lender.  My conversation with Patricia Wright indicated that they somehow attained my last 4 of my SSN and that I would be held responsible for this debt.  I informed her that this was a scam as I would gather information to report this company as being fraudulent.  Got another phone call this A.M. from SARA OLSEN stating to verify information once again.
