Text message sent stating Central Bank of Kansas City credit card has been put on hold.  Please call 866-587-6500.  I don't even have that card but called the number just to see how they are trying to scam you.  Recording ask you for card number pin and social security number. Not a very good recording.  I hope no one falls for this.

I also got a text sayin the same thing. Knowing that I don't carry that card, I deleted the text without even calling the number. My wife also got the same texts. I told her not to do anything with it. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS ONE!

I got a text at 9:15 in the morning saying "FINAL Alert: Your Central Bank of Kansas City DebitCard has been blocked. Please contact us immediately at 8665876500"  I have never banked with them.

I received an automated phone call at 7 a.m. from Central Bank of Kansas (or mayby Kansas City), which woke me up. The tape recording said "Your card has been suspended because we believe a third party has accessed your account." I can't remember the further instructions to call a certain number or press 1; I hung up. I planned to look at all of my credit cards to see whether any of them were connected with this bank somehow, but came online first and found this site.

Got this by text message Oct 7, 2009:

This is an automated message from Central Bank of Kansas City. Your ATM card has been suspended. To reactivate call urgent at 18884292514.  


A different number from those reported in March but same intent. I did not call the number and do not have any account with Central Bank. For some who might have such an account it could appear legit. It did cause me to think back to the last use of my ATM cards. I don't believe Central is a major bank but it does have about branches in the metro area.

My mistake in the message immediately above this - the originating number for the scam involving Central Bank of Kansas City was 1 866 429 2514.I will post a short item under that number.

There exist a theft ring with debit or Atm cards. My card has been stolen three times. This theft ring want to steal "Insulin and Atm" cards. Gary stated to a Chruch's chicken employee at Little Rock Ark.Have you ever held a Million dollars?as he paid for his chicken.Later it was set up for the card to be stolen. On Saturday Oct.13th 2012
