Want verification as to its legitimancy as a valid company as they requested personal info. regarding acc. # and such.

I received the same call today and I don't feel comfortable even though they say it's verification and they know your account info. then why are the blocking their calling line ID. I called the 866-595-1234 and someone picked up, but why no greeting. I am in the telecom business and I know businesses like an allstate should have greetings.

This is an Allstate Motor Club verification line put in place to verify an Allstate representative that called you. If you are unsure about a call you received from an Allstate representative, ask them for their employee number and full name and call this number to verify that they are calling you on behalf of Allstate Motor Club!

the reason why they dont leave messages is because it is against Allstate's policy for them too, we actually get in [***] if we do. its a legal issue. i worked on the verfication line.

I got a call today from a woman claiming to be a rep for Allstate Motor Club (AMC) offering me a 25% discount for an early renewal of my policy. I just needed to give her a credit card number which, she said, would not be charged until the usual renewal date. When I demurred, telling her there was no way I was giving my credit card number to a voice on the phone, she gave me her 'employee number' and the name of her supervisor. I pointed out that those were just words, unverifiable. She offered to tell me my account number. I pointed out that if she were part of a fraud ring that had hacked the AMC web site she would have that information.

That's when she gave me the 866 number, which I called. Another woman answered and provided -- wait for it -- the same information.

I went to the AMC site and opened the 'contact us' link. It had a header stating that AMC reps were available 24/7, ready and eager to help. Below that were the very limited hours they were actually on duty, basically regular business hours. (https://www.allstatemotorclub.com/amc/about/contact.faces)

So, either this was one of those ridiculously inept frauds that still manages to snag thousands of morons or it was a pitiful telemarketing effort by AMC, but coming on a Sunday the day before Christmas Eve when there would be three days for crooks to work their scam and scram, I wasn't going for it.

Either way, I have lost a bit of confidence in AMC.
