Who calls from this toll free number?

These folks are either bogus, or think I'm stupid.

It's an automated message claiming to be Visa's automated fraud prevention department, and they said they wanted to verify recent charges on my account.

I called them back. I did NOT give them any personal information other than my phone number.  What I DID tell them was to forward all information they had on the alleged fraudulent charges to the card issuer, and I would contact them.

After spending about five minutes going around over this simple instruction, they hung up on me.

I was left a message from these people claiming that they were visa fraud dept and had some questions for my card, which number ended in wxyz and to call them back. Well, the card is old but I wonder how they got it? I am an atty and am willing to bet that this scam has something to do with making money and likely has worked on a quite a few innocent folks. I would love to pursue this matter. I have no idea who runs this post or how to get into contact with the people effected by the scam but I would love to find out.

My Credit Union uses this service if you have been charging a lot on your Visa in a day and they want to verfiy that you are the one making the purchases. It is an automated system that tells you the amounts and sometimes locations of the charges and at the end you can press a number to verify or dispute that you made the charges.

I got a call after taking a large advance on my visa. When I called this number back they were polite and understanding. They could see who I was by my phone number without asking me anything. Then they suggested I call the Credit Union tomorrow during normal hours and ask them what the number for the fraud prevention is and compare to see if it is the same. Good answer! Of course I still need to do this but i'm thinking it just might be legit like others have said.

This is 100% total legit number.  It is VISA Fraud Prevention Services.  They called me within 1 minute of a suspicious purchase and had also placed a temporary hold on my card.  Unfortunately, I didn't call the number back until I checked my bank account 3 days later (because of a weekend and holiday) and noticed that there was a $300.00 purchase on my card that I did not authorize.

What happened was that someone from a restaurant wrote down my card information and had the clerks at SEVERAL stores manually enter the numbers in.  Apparently, this is a red flag and that is why I received the call.

If you receive a call from this number, check your bank account immediately and call them back to verify purchases.

This number is legit as I called them and was unsure and they asked me to call my credit union and I did. AZFCU verified this is the company for Visa fraud they use and that they need to verify some items. I called them back and they knew all my info and the charges I had made. Its legit.

Just call your bank, and have them transfer you to the Visa fraud services. From there you know your in a secure line (unless your being tapped) . I was asked to verify a purchase of a large amount. Which is why I got the call in the first place. I didn't call the number back, I just called my bank, and had them transfer me.  I did have to have my CC number handy. The system was automated.  

I do find it strange I can pay for a vacation in one pop on my card, which cost alot more than what bought, but I get a call for one item. Oh well.

100% LEGIT! I received this call 04/27/2009 at 6:07 pm and at first I was suspicious. However when I checked my account I called them back IMMEDIATELY as there were several purchases on my card that weren't mine. I havent even used this card in months. My bank was closed when I got the call but the fraud service put a temporary hold on my credit card. I don't know how someone got a hold of my card. I have the original and I live in AZ. The card was physically swiped at a Home Depot in California. I guess they can clone them now! If you have received this call I suggest you call them back as soon as possible. Im glad to know the service actually works & we had our money back on 04/30/2009!

My wife received and automated message claiming to be from Visa fraud prevenction requesting our credit card number to verify a recent purchase. She didn't feel comfortable completing the request and hung up. I checked this message board and decided to call back and was able to talk to a real person who gave me the last four digits of the card number and information on the purchase in question. It turns out they were verifying a purchase she had just made on QVC. They requested no additional information and I confirmed the purchase. I believe this is a legitimate service but will check with my financial institution tomorrow when they are open.

This is a legit service. I bank at AZ Fed Credit Union. My wife paid a $250 deposit on line, and I got the call 10 min later.

This was a legit call.  I had made an online payment and entered the expiration date wrong, so it declined.  Once I re-entered the date, all was good.  They called because of it being processed twice.

I got a text message that my netspend account has been disabled.  i nor my wife have a netspend acct

This is legit as everyone has said. I just called and gave them partail information and tey looked up past transactions from about a mounth ago.

its visa fraud.  alot of times, i just call my credit union and they can look it up.  it basically tells you if your card ends with wxyz and if you made a recent purchase of $o.oo.  if you approve press this number if you don't, press that number.  its a good number.  its not a scam.  just call your bank or credit union if you don't want to talk to a computer.

This was an official sounding call concerning an Arizona Federal Credit Union Account. I slipped up &
gave them, via my phone, the visa # for  an account at a different credit union. When I noticed this, I realized  that this was a way th phish account numbers.  This number fronts an account # and ID
theft scheme.

this is a ligit number.  they didn't ask for the whole visa number.  i didn't give them the last four digits of my new card.  they asked if the last four digits of my debit card matched and i told them no.  it ended up being an old card i had lost and someone apparently has the card and tried to use it.  she said it was automatically denied to begin with and i had nothing to worry about.  normally i call my credit union but decided its faster to just take the call instead.  i chose to speak to a live person than a computer.

This is a scam.  If you call it back, an automated system asks for your credit card number.  Don't give it.  The message said it was AZ Credit Union Visa fraud department.  I do not have an account there, and never did.  Check recent purchases from your credit cards online before doing anything.

*****My credit union uses this to verify charges to my account... They already have all information so you are NOT getting scammed etc... They WILL put a hold on your visa account without a call back... I was STUCK in Mexico with NO money for hours until I returned call and they reopened my visa account... Note to self : notify bank when leaving country that you will be charging out of country... Also, they called when I made a paypal purchase in the UK... ********

866-599-2657 is E-Business Network (or EHome Business Network) that caters to Herbalife, a vitamin company based in Canada. Materials sent to you cost $10 and it'll normally come from 2850 S Roosevelt, Tempe AZ 85282. As soon as I found out that this home business is actually Herbalife, I called their representative & told her that am not ready for this and not to send any more materials. Then, I emailed someone to delete my name, address, email and phone number from their list. Instead, they charged my credit card $39.95. I already paid the $10 for some crap materials. Desperate people like me looking for something decent to work on to substantiate low income, this is not meant for you. You have to buy from them first at a substantial amount as part of their so-called work-from-home strategy before they'll actually send you vitamins to sell and create your own following.
