This appears to be a scan! How can I get them to stop calling me???

Debt Collector "Southland Acquisitions" of Southern California, utilizing illegal and unethical practices to collect a debt to which they may or *may not* actually have a claim. Read the FCDPA http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection. Demand a written validation letter of the "debt" they claim you owe; remind them that they are required to do this by Federal Law. They cannot require that you pay anything or provide any information other than to confirm the address to which they can send such validation. If they refuse to comply, know your rights and act! Report them to the BBB, the FTC, and the California Attorney General's Office at http://oag.ca.gov/contact/consumer-complaint-against-business-or-company.

Caller claims to be a process server. Offers a phone number (866-602-1905) to call the "legal department" of SLA Inc. "Will you be at your place of residence in an hour?" Yes, come on by. "Oh, well, uh, how about you instead call this here number and maybe you can work something out.." ...yeah.

Not a process server. He's working for Southland Acquisitions, and his job is to intimidate you into calling in to settle the debt. As such, he won't provide any case # or court. A real process server would never call you and urge you to work with the offended party. Impersonating a process server or other threats to sue are illegal according to the FDCPA, so stay calm and try to collect as much information as you can from the caller while feeding him nothing.

I got the same type of caller saying the same thing looking for a relative of mine. He's making it through a number of my family members claiming the same thing; however, he's not calling from the 866-602-1905, who is Southland Acquisitions.

He's calling through a local number 508-877-8033.... who call themselves Professional Process Servers, but tell you the same thing, call the 866 number with a case #. How do these people sleep at night telling people the lies they do.
