got a call from this number, left a message on my voicemail, he said his name was Johnathan Church.  He said that I needed to call back immediatly that he was investigating some type of fraud with orange county.  I immediatly called back and left a messge Johnthan Church called me back a few minutes later.  He told me he was investigating a line of credit that I supposedly had taken out back in 2001.  He told me he wanted to make sure he had the right person and said my social security number and my address.  I told him I never took out this loan , he said I owed $3000.00.  I tild him I did not take out this loan that there is som kind of mistake, he told me that they had personally came out to my house and spoke with me so he knew for a fact that I had taken out this loan.  He then told me that a hold was being placed on my bank account, and the police were going to be sent out to talk to me.  I started crying and asked him on what dates did they come to speak to me.  He became very mean and said tears aren't going to help your defense mrs, He said I don't believe you, your lying.  He told me he was sending the sherriff out to get me right now.  I told him to go ahead and call the police I told him i was not giving him anymore information until i spoke with my attorney.  He told me that I would be going to jail and that I could give my side of the story to the judge and my bank account would have  a hold on it by 5pm.  I hung up and immediatly called the police, my attorney, the credit bureaus and my bank.  I found out that there is no 3000.00 loan on my credit.  This was some type of scam of hoax

This company is nothing but bottom feeders.  They threaten you by saying they will call the police.  They're harassing my wife over a 9 year old debt that has exceeded the statue of limitations for collection.  They appear to be new (fly by night) since I can't find much about them on the net. When I spoke with them, the first thing he said was I "just called the Police". "They should be at your house to arrest you in a few minutes". What a joke.  It was good for a laugh.  I really liked the part about this one dude named Gordon Marks - from the pre-trial division.  debt is all civil matters that do not require a presence at the court date.

Got a message at my work number from "Gordon Marks" calling for Northeastern Capital's pre-trial division. He said that my number was listed as the contact for a "Maria Santos," a name I'm not familiar with.  He mentioned my name, but it's in my voice-mail message so that's not surprising.  I called back, gave the case number and said that I didn't know that person, and he said he would remove my number from the case.  If it's a scam, I don't think they got anything beyond confirmation of my name and work number.

They called me up threatening to garnish my wages and send me to court if I did not pay. So like an idiot I offered to pay... but then I called back the next day to cancel my payment, and they said they cannot back out my scheduled payment. So I called my financial institution and put a fraud alert and canceled my debit/credit card so the payment would not go through. So I am waiting to see if they touch my account. FYI my debt was about 9-10 years old.

You mudsling all you want but the company violated did violate the fair debt collection act by contacting a relative to get a hold me. Second off all my old debt was when I was 18 and was living inbetween couches. Also I do not have a debitor gf. So get your facts straight. Make sure you read the fair debt collector act before dealing with any debt collector.

Rob replies to rob your a loser
First of all when I said I was inbetween couches what I was refering to is not having a stable home to live in (almost homeless). Two, I did try to pay that particular debt when I was had a stable income. By that time I had to call 4 plus collection agencies because the debt was moved from one agency to another, all dead ends. Do you think I want to go through seven years of trial and tribulations again of not being able to get an apartment without a co-signer or able to buy a vehicle. Do you!!! I am sorry that I am not holier than thou. Also if you would have read ealier that this company who tried to collect on a debt that is out of my state's six year stature of limitations and violated at least 3 rulings under the fair debt collectors act. I understand you need to pay your debt. So why are you calling me a loser?, because I was a dumb 18 year old kid 10 years ago. People do grow up after 10 years. You can go ahead and think what you want, I not hear to judge people like you are. This website is to educate other people about unknown 800# calling them.

This is very upseting to hear that one of the lords followers is putting another man down for their actions. Do you know the verse Matthew 7:12?  Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. Treat someone as you would want to be treated

Don't worry they are calling me for 3.5 years looking for previous tenant who owes a lot of. It is a SCAM , never believe in "sick calls", regardless if you owed money in the past or not.
Real collectors know that such threats are illegal and would not do it.
I contacted my local police, FTC, OIG, there is not much you can do as they are not registered anywhere in USA. I even had a private investigator from local sheriffs office trying.
Change your number and unlist it if needed. There is not much you can do, they stop for a while, then start again, if they called you once, they will not stop.

The caller identified himself as Chris Thompson, Senior Investigator for the Attourney's network for a company he called Northeastern Capital Corporation.  He said that either I or my lawyer needed to speak with him soon or something he called a default action would happen.
He did not specify what this referred to or describe what his company  supposedly does, nor did he provide any means to contact him other than the nnumber provided.
To be clear: I have never received any documentation from any entity calling itself Northeastern Capital Corporation and only learned they had an interest in me the day they called to inform me that I had almost skirted some heretofore unknown — never adequately described — deadline.
Upon calling that number (866-606-4033) I was first connected to a pre-recorded message.  A small list of options ended with the command to press 0 so that "my call would be handled in the order in which it was received."
When I did so I was transferred after four rings to a voice mail box purported to be that of a Jeff Michaels, manager of the legal department.  The message there asked that I leave a message and wait for someone to contact me.
I called five or six times during business hours to see if an actual person would ever pick up.  No one ever did.  At this point, a co-worker googled this site and read some of the accounts posted here to me.
Hearing that, I called the NYC information and complaint number (311) and spoke with a woman who said that either they or the Better Business Bureau would investigate the company and provide me with a report if I could first provided them with an address, either a mail drop off or a place of business, the company claimed as their own.
I didn't have an address, so after speaking with the 311 operator for a while, I chose to ignore them.
NE Cap called again a couple of days later, however, citing two previous messages left with me, when they'd only left one.
I called NYC's 311 hotline again and spoke with another woman who gave me the number of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.  (They've got a website, so I plan to hit them after I'm done here.)
This woman opined that every business doing proper legal activity provides some sort of address, and any business with the word "capital" in their name probably needs a few licenses to legally handle, move or retrieve wealth above a certain amount.  She also suggested that, at such a company, the calls to even a delinquent client facing a "default action" probably wouldn't be made by their senior investigator and that the client's attempts to reply probably wouldn't be shunted into the voice mail of his manager at 9:30 in the morning (EST).
I finally called NE Cap.  I left an angry message saying that I knew they were a scam, and if they ever deigned or dared leave a business address the next time they called, I would forward it to the Better Business Bureau and ask them to confirm whether they were licensed to do whatever it is they claim they do.
I would also be willing to press charges.  I believe — I'd have to check this to be sure — but I believe the crime's title is conspiracy to defraud.

    same here
Somebody with this company lied on our machine about leaving other messages when it was the first time they'd called.  Chris Thompson called too acting like he's some kind of big dog attorney, but I know not to be intimidated by these people.  They are just bill collectors.  Don't let them scare you.  They can't garnish wages on most debts (and not without a judgment from a court) and they can't have you arrested.  They are a lot of hot air.
