I just dealt with the same problem through t-mobile and I was able to receive a credit to my account for the months of October and November. The receptionist instructed that immediately upon receiving such a text message, reply to it with the word "stop" and you will not be subject to any further charge or scam. As she explained it, it is time sensitive, and therefore after a certain amount of time past receiving the message, you will be charged if you have not responded with this phrase. You can respond at ANY time to stop the reoccurring monthly fee, but will have to deal with your phone carrier to retroactively remove the charges already incurred.

My latest Sprint bill, received 11/19/08, contained a charge for $19.99 for "GoLiveMobile:Alerts-Golive Alerts-10/11" and for 2 SMS text messages. I called Sprint to say that I had never ordered any alert service but had received 2 text messages that I had opened but assumed were junk mail, since I do not text. They said that software had been installed by an outside party and that I would have to call (866)606-7216 to have it removed. They gave me a $19.99 credit for my Sprint account. I have repeatedly called the number but get a message saying the number "has been temporarily disconnected." I found this website thru Google in an attempt to locate the party that installed unauthorized software. I am concerned that if the software is not removed, I will continue to get billed for "alerts" I never authorized or ordered.

I just got 2 charges on my bill. One from CYLON. LLC for $9.99 and one from SJA Mobile for $19.99. I didn't sign up for either service and Sprint told me they can't refund the charge. They gave me a number to call for SJA Mobile and it's out of service. I spoke with someone from CYLON and they say they're going to send me a refund. What a F****ing Scam. I'm referring this to our State Attorney Generals Office.

Text sent from 97000- I just received an unauthorized text that $9.99 was charged by smsgamerinfo.... I did reply with "stop" I know I didn't sign up for anything.I wonder if I will still get charged the $9.99 even though I received confirmation after texting "stop" that I would no longer be charged.

getting tired of being charged illegally
In November, I received a text message from 97000 that said(verbatim):
    smsGamerInfo
smsGamerInfo game cheats 866-606-7216 $9.99 was just charged to my account and other charges may apply STOP to end or Help for more options
I followed the directions to SUPPOSEDLY make it stop and sent STOP to the 97000 number they sent me a message back that they were sorry they did not understand my text message and continued to tell me to send STOP to end or HELP for more info. I found out later that I was not only charged for the subscription that I never applied for but I was also charged for trying to make it stop. It didn't end there though. Again this month they sent me the same message stating I had been charged for the monthly subscription and yet again was charged for trying to make it stop. What do I do if it won't stop. I can't keep paying for something I never authorized. WARNING TO EVERYONE THAT RECEIVES THIS MESSAGE:THEY CHARGE YOU FOR EVERY MESSAGE YOU RECEIVE OR SEND TO THEM SO DON"T WASTE YOUR TIME TELLING THEM TO STOP ITS $10 everytime

I received 2 back to back texts. First one at 3:27 telling me $9.99 monthly and other charges may apply. stop 2end, etc. The second one at 3:29 giving me GTA 4 cheats. I do not have text messaging and the phone number was not valid. I only found the correct website to (hopefully) un-subscribe by searching the phone number on-line. My son was trying to play a game that asked for a phone number, then the game didn't work. We had a long talk! I haven't received a bill yet - maybe I'll be able to reverse the charges.

Recieved 3 text messages last month, all within three minutes.  Thought it was odd since they were about gaming and I don't game (I'm a 37 year old science teacher).  Now a $9.99 charge shows up on my bill.  T-Mobile was vey helpful.  "Blacklisted" them from my account and credited me the money and gave me this information: support@smsgamerinfo.com  www.smsgamerinfo.com   1-866-606-7216

This is in addition to my last comment.  I encourage everyone to go to www.ftcomplaintassistance.gov to file a complaint with the federal trade commission or call them at 1-877-FTS-HELP.  If we all do it they will take notice.  Also:  If someone from each phone company call their service we can shu these guys down.  T-Mobile was very helpful.

I use Verizon and I had to go and put a stop on the premium text service to stop it.  This way Verizon will no longer accept the 3rd party charge.

I received a text from smsgamerinfo.com on 12/15 saying "Thank you for subscribing" and on my most recent bill there was a charge from GoLive MobileAlerts for $9.99.

I had to fight with Verizon to get the charge taken off and they had me text "Stop" to 97000 as well. I had them remove premium text messaging from my account as well because this has happened before.

    It's complete BS.

Got 2 texts today from these [***]. Verizon instructed me to text them back with the word "stop". Don't know how much I got charged yet, but I told verizon to put a note on my account that these were unsolicted messages.

Definitely file a complaint with the FTC - we have to shut these [***] down.

A charge of $9.99 applied to my Verizon bill.  Verizon staff advised me how to stop the service to my cell phone and removed the charges.  I have no idea how the company acquired my cell phone number

They claim a legitimate service. But what they doing is going over a phone listing for telemarketers. Then, they will charge you for services you were not aware off. T mobile is not only the cheapest service with coverage that rival the rest. I have lines from AT&T and T mobile. Had Verizon too. And I have clear coverage where the AT&T and Verizon don't have with the t mobile lines. Well i was reimbursed 49.95 today on my T mobile accounts. I'm reviewing legal options. Thank you. Same 97000 STOP, as others stopped it.
