Someone from this number called my mother's phone number asking for my husband.  First of all, I don't know how they got her number because although we do live with her we never give her number as a contact for either of us.  The only message left is for my husband to return the call.  The whole purpose of a voice mail is to LEAVE A MESSAGE.  I learned long ago to screen all my calls.  If I don't recognize the number, I let it go to voice mail.  If a message is left, I'll listen.  If it's a legitimate call I return it.  I refuse to return calls to morons leaving nothing but a number.  

Two days ago I received a collection letter from Convergent trying to collect on a bill that was settled more than 10 years ago.  I've already reported them on the RipOff Report site.  Beware of anyone from Convergent or Galaxy Portfolios LLC.  You can go the convergent site to remove the number they've called; however, don't fill in the optional information they request about the name, etc. of the person they are trying to reach.  I submitted my mother's number.  Now we'll see if they call again.

As far as I'm concerned, all collection agencies are vultures. I have outstanding debts that I am paying, but I will NEVER send a payment to a collection agency.  The money paid to these places doesn't go to where you actually owe the money.  If you really want to repay a debt, send what you can directly to the company you owe.  DON'T deal with collection agencies!!!!!
