Something about Home Retention Group.  They sent me a Fedex letter and for me to get back to them....? Weird thing is I got the letter yesterday and the missed call today. I searched the web for them but can't find anything and this is the missed call number.  Don't even want to call back - smells like a scam.

It is Countrywide Home Loans Home Retension.  Didn't you read your FedEx Letter?  DUH!

    me too
Ya Countrywide. the worst of the deal is when I tried to get them to help me before I lost my job they got rid of the guy I was dealing with and when I called back to find out the deal I kept getting his voice mailbox instructing me to leave a message and he would get back with me. I called every other day trying to get a hold of him. Finely I called the main number and found out the guy didn't work there any longer and everything that he did no longer existed. So I had to start all over again but before we finished I got laid off and haven't been to work sense so they said that they can't do anything more. I have however made what I have been able to for payments. I wonder what they think they can do now when they wouldn't do anything then. I still have no job. When I got the fed-ex they also called but each time I would answer nobody on the other end. I called back and it has been a busy signal.

These calls are from scammers out to steal your identity.  I refuse to talk to anyone who doesn't give me their "true name" and where they are calling from.

I am constantly getting calls from these [***] on my cell phone at all hours in the day a couple times.  Leaving messages eating up my minutes.  I'm not answering them just incase you get charged by some scam over the phone.

I have gotten the same call daily for weeks now! Originally, I just hung up. More recently, I have pressed "1" as directed and the exact same recording recycles. Therefore, it is impossible to reach a "live agent".

The recording is as follows, "We are calling regarding a letter that you recently received in FedEx. If you have recieved this package, please press "1" to be connected to a live agent to discuss this letter."

Already certain that this was not a legitimate call, I wasted some time to confirm that I did not have a FedEx letter or package delivered or scheduled for delivery.

I received the same call for weeks.  I finally got to a live person who asked for my phone number and my name.  Considering I was about to received a FedEx package I gave them my name and number.  Should I change my number? Can they hack and steal my identity from my phone?

OK...found out that the calls are coming from the "Home Retention Center", a division of Stewart Lender Services out of Houston, TX. The Home Retention Center has been contracted by the former Countrywide Mortgage (which just merged with Bank of America) to contact homeowners who may be having difficulty keeping up with their mortgages ~ this in cooperation with the US administration's "Making Home Affordable" initiative.
HOWEVER...this information does not satisfy the facts that:
    1. I do not have a mortgage with any of the above (some family members do though, ones who lived here 12 years ago and had - totally legitimately - used my number as theirs when applying for their mortgage. Bank of America does have their number!
    2. I have received the same call EVERY WEEKDAY for the past 25 days!!!! I had to get the police here for a police report regarding my inability to stop the recordings and to aquire a case number. I spent too many hours speaking to the regulatory enforcement department of my local phone company and had to order a tracing service and caller ID at my own expense to trace the originator of these calls.
    3. According to the regulatory agent, the fact that I was unable (until tonight) to press a number to reach a "live agent", etc...violates a  number of FCC statutes.
    4. According to someone at the Home Retention Center, ONLY three calls are supposed to be made and then, if no response is received, the calls are to cease! Oddly, their records show that the third call I received was today! Fortunately, records now exist to prove that many, many more calls have been made by the above call center to my home number!

Let me say that the woman I spoke at the call center with whom I spoke seemed sincerely concerned. Nevertheless, I did not hesitate to let her know that it all seems very, very much like they are skirting the law which does not make Bank of America or their affiliates look very good to me!

I am expecting a reply from them very soon.

I hit #1 several times to no avail. If you DID get the FedEx packet, fill it out MAKE SURE IT IS FROM Bank of America and NO ONE ELSE! It is the REAL DEAL as long as it is from Bank of America! It should be a TRIAL OFFER to REDUCE or MODIFY YOUR LOAN with them. We did it and are awaiting a response. CALL the Home Retention Team and they will confirm you were in fact sent a 'package'. If they do not indicate you were sent a package, DO NOT FILL OUT ANYTHING. There are too many SCAMMERS out there taking advantage of those in need! Make sure you have your accont number, last 4 digits of you SS#, and property address all for confirmation. GODSPEED to all!

    THIS IS NOT A SCAM!

I received two calls, one last week and one the week before. I looked up the number and was afraid to hope it was for real because I've been trying to get them to help us for almost a year. I went to our PO Box this weekend and the FedEx package was there. This is for real. I called and talked with them, have signed the paperwork and hopefully will be back in good shape on my mortgage in the near future.

For those of you who don't have a mortgage, I would guess someone has given the wrong phone number or maybe you have a number that use to be one of their customer's numbers. Anyway, good luck to everyone!

After your trial period, were you able to reduce or modify your loan?  I just got my Fed-Ex package and I was doing some research to make sure it wasn't a scam.

    SkankofAmerica
This is a "home retention" division of Skank of America.
Borrower beware.  I did get my trial documents.  There are hundreds of thousands getting trial modifications but when Skank gets money for 3, 6, or even 9 months worth of trial payments, they deny you and you do NOT get permanent assistance.  They will foreclose.  They make more money foreclosing on you and have absolutely no intention of keeping you in your home.

I recieved an envelope from fedex, from Bank of America Home Retention Group...I am not the owner, I rent the home..should I be worried?  Does this mean that my landlord is not making his payments..cause he is still taking my money every month?  we suspected this at the end of last year and he told us he was not behind in payments..i think hes pocketing the rent we send and not making the payments..what do you all think..What i really want to know is if he is getting papers from the home retention group, does that mean he is not making payments or could it just be something they send to all home oweners?

Not necessarily.  My husband just got a FedEx package and he is making payments but would like  to modify cuz the principle is higher than the value of the property. However
I do not trust BOA to offer anything of help.

OK, I received the same call and the HAMP package I was expecting, so I know this is real.  Will it produce a permanent loan modification?  Now, that is the $64,000 question!  But it is NOT a scam-- just some company Skank has subcontracted out to.
