Verizon calls daily sometimes at 6:55 a.m, sometimes in the evening, asking me to call 1-866-614-4404.  They use my home phone number harass me as I refuse to call back.  If they need to speak to me they can put a human on the phone to call.  Ironically, no one at my phone # has any business or contractual connection with Verizon, so these calls are harassment only.  My son, (over legal age) did have a Verizon wireless, however he died on May 18, 2007, and Verizon was TWICE notified.  Legally I am under no obligation to assume any of his debts and he did not have an estate of any type.  He existed on Socual Security disability only.  Both my wife and I are in our 70's and have heart conditions so the calls at any hour are having a toll.  Do I have a legal recourse?

Called my cell phone, didn't leave a message.  Likely that it is Verizon, as I just recently informed them that I wouldn't be able to pay my (large) bill.  These guys wake up early -- called before 9am Central time.

VW is a despicable company.  I too just received a couple of calls from this number on my called ID (I don't generally answer calls from toll-free numbers).  They are attempting to collect a debt that I've already advised them is in dispute.  It looks like time to file those FSCPA and FCRA lawsuits.

BTW: Anyone interested in a class-action regarding VW's disabling of features on their phones can write me as I have an attorney looking for a chance to straighten them out.

I canceled my cell service with verizon. My phone bill always included my home phone, DSL, and cell total. My last phone bill only had my home phone and DSL on it, so I payed it. I thought the cell bill must be coming sperately as a closed account. And it did a few days after my regular bill, but appeared as a dunn for late payment, that says due immediately. I just got this first bill on 8-20-08. I was not happy with the tone of the letter, being my first bill. But, I put my check in the mail 8-21-08 and thought that woud be that. When I got home the afternoon of 8-21-08 I had a message on my answering machine telling me to call 1 866 614 4404 about my account, it was very important to call as soon as possible. The recording did not say who it was, so my first thought was some one must have stole my credit card. But to my surprise it was Verizon wireless, and they wanted to know about my bill. What Jack [***], it's now 8-22-08 and I just got another bill. I raised dickens with Verizon on 8-21-08 about doing business this way, as my bills are always payed early. After getting another bill today I called again and am still on hold about an hour now. First I got the cell department, then that supervisor, then got tranferred to customer service and am still holding. They would not let me talk to accounting or their legal department. I was also informed they had no phone number for me unless I was law enforcement. Something stinks, do they think I will ever use them for new service again? In fact now I need to go look for another DSL provider.

They call me roughly 8-10 times a day, regarding my father's account with them. They even called as early as 7am once.

I work nights, so this really disrupts my sleep. It's getting annoying fast.

After talking to Verizon. It isn't them.   This has been an every other day occurence.    They are now blocked.  I am wondering what they get when someone unknowingly calls them back.  I hope everyone is smart enough NOT TO SHARE personal information.

The same number called me but under the company Vantage Sourcing saying that I owed Verizon money.  I called verizon, i did owe money, but they said that it should not goto a collections agency so quickly. The bill (which they never sent me) was dated dec 28, they started calling Jan 15.

Received a call on my house line, computer told me to call them back.I called them back and they wanted my account number & password first thing.  I figured it was a scam so I told them to call my cell number if they needed something.  The lady told me that they did not know my cell number.  I guess my wireless company doesn't know my wireless number?  WTF?  I smell a RAT!!!!!

This number is from Verizon Wireless.
Does anyone have any advice on how to settle with this company or what state organizations I could contact about them.  I was an Alltel customer prior to Verizon buying them out.  Once the switch was made my service became awful!  I couldn't use it in my house or in many other areas that I could before with Alltel and after calling them a couple of times to notify them of the crappy service it never got any better.  Disconnected service before contract ended (only had about 6 months left on it) with three phones.  And now they are trying to hit me with three ETF's of $200.00 a piece!  And after talking to them numerous times they will not settle or even comply to reduce the cost.  Any suggestions out there?

I was with Verizon for 6 years and had no complaints.  I received an iPhone for Christmas so I called and cancelled my Verizon service the day after Christmas. I asked if I owed anything to complete the contract and was told no.  I asked for a letter stating that and received one.  I then received two more bills, and called both times to clear it up.  Both times I was told I owed nothing and sorry about the mix-up.  Now I'm receiving calls from a collection agency and from this number saying that I owe Verizon an ETF of $200 (my contract was up 3 months before I canceled) and an additional 3 months of billing.  The account was set up as an automatic payment with my credit card; I called the CC company to let them know what was going on and they immediately stopped payments to Verizon.  I have a letter from my credit card company saying that they have resolved the dispute in my favor.  I am still getting calls from Verizon and from the collection agency. Verizon won't send me any paperwork on this issue.  They said to pay them, and then we can work out whether I owe them or not.  I don't think this is the way to run a company.
