I got a call that my old company owed over $400,000 in back taxes. That more than the total pay for the employees. I also paid my taxes. Either the state really screwed up, or this is a total scam.

First they called and said I owed Indiana Dept of Revenue something like $800...I said no i did not...I did back in 1999 and IT WAS CLEARED UP and my credit report shows is a a released judgement....she said I had to prove it...I said you prove it...I have a copy of my credit report and it shows it was release and it was not $800 it was $489...I told them they had to send me the proof or I would not pay them anything...I know i did not owe Indiana anything...they called me like four or five times a day...one day they called me three time in like fifteen minute intervals on a SUNDAY...then the next time they called me during the week at work I answered the phone and I started laying into the lady about fair credit acts and I know my rights and I also know they had to provide me with what ever it was they had that says I owe this money....then the stopped calling me at work with a live person and now all the calls are this recorded message that loops and repeats until it fills up your voice mail inbox..
    goes something like this...
This is not a sales call this message is intended for individual at this phone number who has a contractual relationship with the Indiana Dept of Revenue please hang up now and do not listen to the following message if you are not this person, five, four, three, two, one

I get a call at least twice a day. Same scam ..calling for the state of indiana. Says call is for person at this number(gives no name) and if your not the person who has the "contractual agreement" with the state of indiana to hang up and not listen to the message.  Hard to hang up when you're not home. It is a scam. I have reported the number to the attorney generals office. but i still get the calls. it's a pain in the butt...I think Im going to disconnect my answering machine. This number has also called stating they are calling for the IRS.

I contacted the Better Business Bureau(BBB) about this Premiere Credit Company.  I sent in the complaint on March 10, 2009 and already received a response from the BBB.  The BBB contacted the company.  Premiere Credit sent a response through the BBB stating that all contact would cease and they apologized for the harassing calls.  We have never owed anything in our life so I knew this was invalid, but I pulled our credit report to verify and all was well.  We will see if the letter in writing through the BBB will stop them from calling.  You could give it a try.  Good luck!

Annoying, and repetitive calling. Almost once a day, every day. Same message and person.

Today, it was worse. The message cycled endlessly on my voice mail. This likely would have tied up other people who would actually have needed to leave a message.

It is very odd that they target people who actually don't owe the State of Indiana anything!

Some individuals may owe money to a company that has turned their accounts over to Premier Credit of North America.  Others may be receiving calls from this company because they were used as references in the loan process of the original company.  Others may simply have the misfortune of having acquired a number that was once the debtors or one of the references of the debtor or someone with Premier may have miskeyed (such as transposing numbers) the phone number in their automated recorded call system (which, I believe should be outlawed, but I digress).   Bottom line is under the Fair Debt Collections Act, the debtor by that law does not have to deal with collections agencies and can ask the collection agency to stop calling and by certified mailing notified the collection agency of this fact therefore forcing the account back to the original debtor.   Also, everyone who is receiving these harassing calls from the Premier should file an complaint with FTC, their State Attorney General and also the State Attorney General that Premier is which is Indiana.  Folk's it is illegal to harass, coerce, intimidate, discuss another person's debt with a third party.  It is not illegal to be in debt or deliquent on a debt.  Owing money may be the result of circumstances, such as medical, layoffs, divorce or it could be bad judgement, but it is not illegal and it doesn't justify treating the individual or those associated with the individual poorly, nor does it justify the existance of harassment, coerician or intimidation tactics that company like these use. So right your State and US representatives asking that they put more protections for consumers in place to prevent the existance of companies such as these, file complaints with the FTC (ftc.gov) everytime you get calls from these companies and file complaints with the State Attorney Generals.  Doing this will end the calls.  I also recommend you checking online to see if any class action lawsuits have been filed against Premier or any other companies like them that are calling and see if you are eligible to join that lawsuit. Best of luck.
