Received a call from this number stating they were the IRS and if I didn't call them back within 24 hours I will be put in jail and fined. Sounds like a threat to get you to call and pay a fine thinking your in trouble with the IRS, which is [***], and I'm not falling for it. Wondering if anyone else received this call?

I got a call from a Ryan Cooper, federal attorney with the IRS, ID 2620. He said I owed over $1000 to the IRS for 2011 and 2012. He explained that there was a lawsuit ready to be launched and the papers could not be delivered as no one signed for them. He also indicated that an IRS auditor would come visit if I did not pay. I called the number and the gentleman presented himself as Ryan Cooper IRS id 2620 indeed. He seemed very stressed. When I questioned him a bit he hook up on me.

i received very similar call and Ryan Cooper told me that I will be arrested in 2 hours.  I called him back and informed him that we are reporting this to FBI/Interpol. I think that 866.634.0911 is connected to India as this person  spoke with heavy indian accent.

I received a call from 1-866-634-0911 number stating I have a law suit filed against my name. IRS office calling and threating to be put in jail if I didn't pay CASH!!! It made me nervous since they called my work # and threatned to arrest me at work site. Then it got funny how he wanted Penalty Voucher in CASH but didn't wanna provide me an address. I thought about googling the scam call but I was running between meetings. Had I googled right away, I wouldn't have paniced even for that first 2 minutes of it.

The person who called spoke with chinese accent (or pretending to be chinese IRS agent) so don't know if there is more than one location. He was trying to figure out if I were a US citizen. Once I told him I was a US citizen, he asked if I were born here! He once said, if I didn't pay these taxed I would be deported back to my country. I would be deported back to WHAT country if I didn't pay Penalty!??  He was confused what nationality I was.

My Mom was scammed today by "Andrew Williams" posting as IRS Lawyer. He managed to get $980 in PayPower cards over the phone. After threats of IRS related jail time and fines he demanded her to purchase two PayPower cards and to dictate the card # and exp. date over the phone.
PayPower card customer service refused to deactivate the card, reporting that it's already registered to someone else.

    Very frustrating and sad.
    Beware.

I also received a call from the 866-634-0911 number. He said his name was Samuel Thomas and he works for IRS and he is based in Washington. He provided me with his ID number and gave me an address in Washington DC as his location. He did have an Indian accent.

He said I owed $1950 and if I don't pay in 2hrs, they will send my case to court and a warrant will now be issued for my arrest. He ws going to send an agent over in 2hrs to collect the money and do the paperwork. It was very stressful and convincing. He said if my case goes to court, it will cost me a lot in lawyer fees

I pointed out to him that I  don't think the US govt will operate this way and I had to get back to him. Anyway, on Googling this number I realized it was a scam. I contacted IRS and they gave me this info below (this agency tracks down IRS fraud).

I will advice anybody contacted by this people to contact this govt agency called TIGTA at www.TIGTA.com or call 800-366-4484

    Good luck.

Yep, I just 'played' with these jokers last night.  Called them multiple times from a 3rd party cell phone so they wouldn't connect the dots, asking that if they were the IRS, they would know who I work for and know they were going to be in legal trouble; talk about ticking off "David Miller" with badge ID 6250 (he added a zero when I had him repeat it :) ).  Filed complaint with FTC, FBI, and IRS.  Unfortunately (for us), it appears this scam is widespread and no legitimate legal action will be taken by a federal agency until the $$$s add up.  Even the IRS stated that due to high call volume, their voice mail may be full so register a complaint online UNLESS you did fall prey.  We need to pull together, everyone call them routinely, just to tie up their lines so they can't take advantage of naïve people.  Wish our 'protectorates' (government) were a bit more aggressive!

This is definitely a scam. I asked them to read back my full name that they have on file, and they hung up on me.
