They told me that it was a magazine service and that if I joined I could receive a free diamond watch. However, I never received any magazine or watch but they charged my account twice, even after I had called and cancelled the contract.

My husband signed up for a magazine subscription and funny thing is that the same month we had a $19.99 amount charged on the credit card and the next month a $39.95 charge.  These charges were not on the card until he signed up for the service. Sounds like this magazine company is helping themselves to money that is no theirs!!!

This company called me up one night to tell me that I was a finalist in some sweepstakes and that I had won a whole of of prizes and such and then said that I could also get magazines for a really cheap. So not really realizing that this was some messed up scam I allowed them access to my debit number and such.
Realizing my mistake afterwards I cancelled my magazines once I got my information in the mail. I thought that was the end of it.
A few months later however, I saw an unfamiliar charge on my account for 39.95 and after doing some searching realized it weas yet again these *explicit word* again.
I called my bank, cancelled them from my account so they no longer have access and am disputing the charge.
    Wish me luck.

it is some people called United Benefits Services. I called them, canceled the service and got back my money. You can always file a claim with your bank to dispute the charge also.

THIS IS WINNERS CHOICE PUBLISHERS, DO NOT ANSWER, IT IS A SCAM!!!!!

I was called because of my debit card, told I could be entered into a sweepstakes and win a vacation. I fell for it, received a watch and have been receiving the magazines. Tried calling and canceling the service, which they would not allow!!! Charged $39.95 then $670 about a week later!!!!

LEARN YOUR LESSON FROM ME AND DO NOT FALL FOR THIS!!!!!!!!

This is how this scam works: Sometime in the past, when you entered your name in a contest, or to receive a $-off coupon at checkout on a website or in a store, or a free something or another, etc., there is authority buried in the fine print to negative-option bill your card that you were not made aware of. It's a scam but the fine print makes it legal and card issuers loathe to remove charges that you'd agreed to. Your card may be charged *every* month. Tell your issuer you've been scammed, that you want all charges reversed because it's fraud, and to look at this web page. If you "dispute" the charge, your issuer will tell you to work it out with the charging party and you know that's hopeless. Otherwise, the only other way to get rid of it is to cancel/replace the card which you might want to do anyway because the scammers have your card info now. Good luck folks and don't give away your phone number when you enter for anything, just leave the entry blank. Report to the Internet Crime Complaint Center http://www.ic3.gov/complaint/default.aspx , the Federal Communications Commission http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm , the Federal Trade Commission https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ and your state AG.

The same thing happened to me. Do you happen to remember what the company was called. I wrote it down but lost it. Im trying to figure out if this is connected to another recent charge that I did not authorize from united benefit advantages.
