several calls a day. no message left

Could this be a SCAM?

I received a call at my work number. The receptionist said that the caller did not leave a name, only identified his company as CBCL.

When I returned the call, (after an official message saying calls may be monitored) I enquired about the business and was told they were collection agency. I told them that I have no outstanding debts. I asked how they got my work number since I was suspicious. They simply confirmed my work number and told me that there was no record of me in their database. So, I asked how it was that someone called me at work -- they obviously had my name since they had to go through the receptionist. They asked for the spelling of my full name and they checked in their "database" again. Again, no record of me. I was told to wait while he talked to his supervisor. I was put on hold for several seconds and then the call was disconnected (presumably by the other party). No one called me back.

I did a search on CBCL and found Canadian Bonded Credits Limited. I don't know if this is the company that called me. The telephone number seems to be different. I came across several other postings about CBCL hassling people. I wonder if anyone is really authorizing them to collect on loans - I would SERIOUSLY CHECK THIS OUT before you send them any money.

That same number called today saying that they were IQOR. I then did a seach on the number and found this post. This has something to with columbia house. On a number of different websites it says it's a ripoff. So I would still not trust it.

Don't know how thay get my cell phone number. They call me once a day for a week. they do not leave a message on my voicemail. Because of the calls i had to change my phone number. Be very careful nowadays.

It's might be a scam or somthing

we have had several calls from a person called Lou, who has been very threatning on the phone, we do not know where or how he has our tel # and he will not give any info to us....how can people like this exist and are allowed to make harrassing phone calls....

some one called Lou keeps calling from 1-866-637-7780 he keeps  harassing us and comes across as threatning...we have children in the house and are concerned incase they answer the phone !!!!!

This is a collection agency.

i really cant take any phone harassment at this time so i hope there not playing games ..... if there so legit why block pnone # ... could bearly make out what they were saying

i got a call at home every day for a week often multiple times a day. it was for my step dad and when i asked who it was and what they were calling about he said that his name was stanley and that he was calling from iquor and said that it was personal busniess and asked my step dad to call back. he called the same day and asked for when he would be home and i told him when. multiple times i might add, he has never called when he was home. he called a few days later and asked for him and i said he's not home but my mother is you can speak to her about it and by the time that i had handed her the phone he had hung up. sooo annoying and sketchy. i am glad that i know now why they are calling and that i can tell him not to call again. needless to say someone that is that private about the call especially to his wife they are not getting any money.!!

Maybe if you people would pay your bills instead of thinking that people are trying to scam you, you are the scammers since you take out credit and don't pay it back. Then you run and hide and cry that you are being harassed. Who cry babies?

This number just called looking for my ex (who I didn't know gave anyone my number). i called them back and gave them his new number, and had to google out of curiousity to see who it was. So glad I'm not with him anymore! :D

how these type of companies harras people? it should be banned .

I have not received any phone calls from this number however, when doing a credit check report it came up on my TransUnion Report.  It states I have an outstanding bill with Rogers.  I am a Rogers customer and contacted them to try to figure out the problem.  They have only my current account on file with no accounts outstanding.  When they checked their list of collection agencies, this one did not appear.  This info is not posted on Equifax.  Please be careful!

Rude poor English speaking woman from IQor Canada just gave me this number, which she said is Toronto (she gave me this number first and I said I wasn't calling long distance, she then tried to tell me it wasn't. Toronto is definitely long distance). She said this belongs to a supervisor at a "company dealing with confidential matters". Despite it being the law to identify what her company does she refused to tell me. She wanted to talk to someone else in the household who wasn't here but has tried numerous times to call these people back and either got a computer or dead air. I went a few rounds with this woman trying to find out what her company does but she refused to tell me. I asked her if I called the Police to report a scam would they tell me, she told me to go ahead. She claimed she was in a "data centre" and couldn't put a Supervisor on the phone. I know for a fact that "calling centres" have Supervisors, I have two friends who do that for a living! She rattled off a bunch of numbers, so I made her wait while I got pen and paper and then made her repeat them all again :) At one point she said I was wasting my time and hers, I told her I wasn't the one getting paid. It was a fun conversation. :)

It's clearly a debt collector but from what I read on the other posts they are calling some people who don't owe money. So watch out.

These guys are doing soft checks of your guys credit scores so that is how they get your info...

They are a scam dont give them any money and they just do random calls and they got your number most likely by doing a random check. also check your credit bureu because can can get info from there by doing a soft check...

Saw telephone  number  on my   credit   report when I call it not mention   any   company name .  I  don't  know  they  are on my credit report

I received a $50 check from iQor. All it said was it was a refund. There was no account number or phone number for me to call to see where exactly the refund came and why. I will not cash the check because I don't know if it's a scam. I don't want just anyone to have my bank name or driver's license number if it's wrote on the check in order for me to cash it.
