Asks you to call a collection agency!

this also asked me to call an attorney in regards to collecting a debt...which I have nothing past due on any bill.

Had to give reference # twice.

2nd Agent tried to verify identity; gave me last 4# of Social Security number, which were incorrect.  Gave me address, which also was not mine.

They verified my telephone number (they had it; either on record, or from my calling back on toll-free-number / caller-ID)...

Said they would remove me from the list (obviously I was not the one they were looking for)

I received the same call from the same people.  I know that a debt collecting agency has been calling nonstop for someone that doesnt even live here.  They ask for a name that I dont recognize.

I havent been able to get through to them yet, but Im not late on anything.  No outstanding debt.

Had to give a reference #  after the person started talking they talked so fast that I couldn't understand them He refused to give me a name or a company name as to who it was I was supposed to owe   EVERYONE BEWARE OF THIS NUMBER SOUNDS LIKE A SCAM TO ME

Automated voice left a message to call about a debt payment...said to call this number back and use a reference number.  I have no idea who these people are or what debt they could be referring to.  It's really funny that they are calling at tax time....some people do get sucked in and will play their game!!

I also just rec'd a phone call with a voice message for an attorney and to use a reference number in regards to a debt that is due.  Hello!  If they aren't willing to talk to me live, and have to leave an automated message while I am on the phone, I don't see why I should call back.  I don't owe anything because I do not have credit cards!  If you can't pay cash, or use your bank card, you can't afford it. My schools loans would would be calling me directly if there was a problem.  Definitely "smells like a scam"!

answered phone, Jan.26, 2009, automated person, saying to call Mitchell n kay law firm at 1-866-655-5826 with a reference # about a debt owed.  I owe NO debt to anyone.  this is a scam don't call it.  Contact BBB in that city,state.

Got a call from an automated system for a debt owed.  Don't trust it.

Collection agency as noted above. Ignored.

I just got a call on my cell phone from this number.  It said the call was for William Roth and to hang up if I was not William Roth.  It then said there would be a three second pause.  I never heard of William Roth so I deleted it and then searched the internet for the number.

I received a message on my answering machine from that number, also calling for Mitchell N. Kay, for my sister-in-law.  I figured I'd do some checking before I gave her the message.  I am so glad I came across this board!  I entered the reference number in the box on the MNK website - imagine my surprise when the reference number did not match their records!  I sent an email letting them know that she does not, nor did she ever, live here and asked for something in writing.  Otherwise I was going to report the scam.  Thanks everyone!

Did this happen after you answere an ad on Craigslist

I have received several calls from this number (866-655-5826).  There is a delay when I answer and then a male voice asks for Lucy. I say there is no such person at this location. Then they hangup.
 Today I called the number and a male answered. I asked what person or company I had reached and was told the office of Mitchell N. Kay, Attorney in New York.  He asked if I knew Lucy. When I said no, he said there was an error in their database.  I asked him to remove my phone number from their database and stop calling. He said they would.
 We'll see.

I received an automated call as described in the above complaints and when I called back a man answered and requested my phone number and last four digits of my SSN.  He then stated he had the wrong party.  VERY un-nerving and sounded shady.  He offered nothing and hung up quickly
