They claimed to be calling from American Express looking for someone I do not know. Very persistent caller and unless you call them back to verify that they had the wrong number, your number will always be on their list and they will keep calling. Return the call and speak to a representative. Just tell them you had been receiving calls from them for a person you do not know. They will ask if you know xxx (the person they were trying to contact) and how long you had the number. They will remove your phone on their list within next 24 hours. Don't give them details about yourself if they asked 'cos I don't trust this caller too much. Apparently, when I googled the Internet, I managed to find out that this caller is actually a debt collection company, Omnium Worldwide ( http://collectionagency.info/directory/nebras ... -worldwide-inc/). Probably they were collecting debt for American Express. Anyway, my advice is just return the call and had your number removed or they will call every day and for years (they may stop for a while, but several months later they will start calling again). They may even use different numbers to call, so it was too annoying for me to block them after some time.

As stated by others this is a debt collection company who buys debt from American Express and attempts to collect on it.  They will claim to be American Express but they are not nor can they make any agreements on behalf of American Express.  They will however not tell you this.  Depending on the state you live in, they may not be able to legally collect on the debt because they have to sue within a certain amount of time from the last activity on the account [payment or charge].  This is typically 2 to 4 years.  If you agree to make a payment you have revived the debt so do not say or put anything in writing agreeing to do so without making sure the information they are giving you is accurate.

This website will give you information on how to handle calls of this sort.

They have been calling me for years and even though I have told them that I don't know this guy, they keep calling.  Their favorite time to call is Saturday morning.  Now I just tell them to get a real job and go F--- themselves.  It's about as effective as telling them I don't know who this guy is and he has never lived here.

    Tired of unwanted callers
8666638310 called my number and as all typical callers... they call let wring 4 times because they seem to know when the answering machine picks up.  im on the do not call list but this does not stop these anoying preditors.  make it go away.  if you have a phone number it should be mandated that the caller be id on all caller id systems..  if not they should not be allowed to use it!!!

    Frustrated
I called the AmEx number on the back of my card to make sure I was talking to the real AmEx. I gave them the 866 number so they could check if it was legit. They said it was, and switched me over. Turns out those folks were phishing for info on a person with my first name. I made it clear I'd never heard of that person, and they said they'd take me off their call list. Their must be a better way to find a deadbeat than to harass innocent cardholders!

    Phantom Debtor
Their staff is pretty well trained not to violate the FDCPA so they WILL try, try and try again to get you to verify a piece of personal info (address, last four of social, date of birth, etc.) so that they can go forward with their talk-off. If you don't give it to them, they can't have a substantive discussion with you. But they will keep you on the phone for 10 minutes trying to wheedle something useful out of you.

Debt collectors do not have to follow the laws of the DNC.   Scammers WILL NOT follow the laws of the DNC regardless and there is not much anyone can do about it.   I agree with you wholeheartedly and sick and tired of them too.  I  wish a pox on all of them....

AMEX Collections with an urgent message for blah blah blah.  They called me and harassed me for years, then they got a settlement agreement in court (I googled the person they were looking for. ) Well, I also see that since then the person has filed bankruptcy.

I have NEVER had an AMEX card!  It's not my debt, not my settlement, not my bankruptcy.  They have all the info from the court records to find this person.  I can see it online yet they harass me!!!   From a new number, but the  same game.  I put it to no ringer.

Kddfit, are you part of this scheme? A scam collection agency masquerading as American Express.

Well, some [***] with a very thick Arabic accent has been calling me asking for someone who doesn't live at the number he's calling. I told this caller to stop calling me. All this moron does is talk over me and then hangs up on me when I'm telling him that he's wrong.

By the way, this caller calls very early in the morning. 7:30 AM is way too early to be calling.

I am going to call the police and report this middle-eastern [***] if he doesn't stop harassing me.

These people are an online scam. Did some checking with a couple operators in their area. The FBI are investigating them as part of a child pornography ring, involved in racketeering, extortion, and online fraud.
