A call came in on my business line at about 4:43pm est that I missed from this number, when called it back the person asked for someone I didn't know, the person said it was a personal issue and couldn't give me any information.

I didn't answer this time, although the the phone rang at least 15 times. I'm fortunate to be dept free. I don't need this petty annoyance.

I keep getting a call from this number but never pick up. They don't leave a message either. Wouldn't they leave one if it was important?

Debt collectors know that if you dont answer the phone, you're not going to return the call if they leave a message. If you are not the right person, they can not by law disclose the information they are calling about and actually shouldnt even divulge that they are a collection agency until they have the right person on the phone. If you know you're not in debt, answer the call, and ask them to stop calling.
you can also write them and tell them to cease and desist. Essentially you're telling them to stop calling you or you'll report them. make sure you keep a copy for yourself, and send the letter certified so that you have proof of receipt. They can only call you one more time to let you know they rcvd the letter and that they will no longer be calling you.

Statute of limitations on debt depends on your state usually as far as taking you to court. Some states it's 4 years. Some less. After 7 years, it can no longer affect your credit score, but the companies can still try to collect. Now...That is 7 years from the last time you spoke with the company. Every time you speak to them, it re-starts that 7 years.
Medical bills for children are often sent to collections erroneously. These should not be put on a child's credit report, but often times collection agencies do not know they are dealing with a minor until the parents speak up. Also, if this bill remains unpaid when the child becomes an adult, they are then held liable, even if it's their parent's fault the bill did not get paid.
Whenever a hospital sends you a bill, whether you are on insurance or medicaid/medicare...send a copy of that bill to the insurance company or whomever right away. They should be covering this for you. Often times hospitals will bill the insurance, but that's actually not a legal requirement. Usually they do that to cut down on the time it takes to get payments. Ambulance serves are the same way.

Call dozens of times a day, everyday. When I DO answer, they hang up. Pure harassment.

I have received two calls from this number in the last two days, both times the call went to voicemail.  They did leave a message, however it was not what I would expect from a respectable company.  It is faint like they didn't mean to leave it or was hoping that it wouldn't be audible. The first time I thought it was just a mistake, I heard a male voice say "F**K".  The second time (this morning), I clearly heard him say "F**K YOU".  Now I'm not a laywer but isn't this illegal?  Is there someone I should contact about this?  This has me a bit shaken, how did he get my number and what other information does he have?

I have received numerous calls from these people-they told me who they are looking for-some guy name James Lalce-I don't this person, This is a recycled cell number they are calling on. I have even called them back 3 times (since Nov 2010) to tell them it's the wrong number. Now this morning I got some nasty [***] [***] giving me all kinds of BS that they never called before!!! WTF!!! I'm ready to find a way to get them for harassing me-anyone know how? I called our local police and I'm waiting to hear back from them.

These Northland Group weenies called this afternoon Re: a Credit Card Bill that has been paid [and received 8/08] that is NOT even Due until 8/14, today being 8/10!!!

Just got a call from these scumbags. Wanted to speak to a sonia rodriguez told the guy no one by that name lives here, he then demanded that I give him a new number for sonia. I don't even know this person so why would I have their "real" number. Legally a debt collector can't ask anyone who is not the debtor for any information like that, all they can do is put the number in their system as a wrong number and not call it back. Well that is what legitimate debt collector companies do. The bottom feeders like this company don't do that, they try to threaten and claim they are going to continue to call even if they know it's a wrong number.

This number continues to call my house all times of day or night. I have no idea what they would be calling for.

these idiots keep calling for someone who does not live here. They are idiots no matter what you tell them. I am filling a report with the fcc.gov and this should hopefully get some attention. It has worked before.

Say they are debt collectors for a Citibank Plat Business Visa ending in #xxxx.  I repeated several times that this card had not been a Plat Business Visa and their info was totally incorrect.  I asked him/her to go back to Citibank to get correct info as the Citibk Plat Bus Visa had been paid off.  He/she said I must prove it.  I said no that he/she needed to go back to Citibk for correct info.
No wonder Citibk is in trouble.  Record keeping must be really off.

Calls once a day.  Rings the phone (land line) about 10-15 times and then stops.  I don't have an answering machine on this line.

This is Northland Group, Debt collector. They call my work number (even after several requests that they stop) about a CITI Card that one of my tenants stole from me and racked up a bunch of charges that were reconciled after I filed ID Theft charges. The CITI Card folks are cool with it. They got their $$ in the reconciliation process (my card was insured of course). These Northland folks are way out of touch. The same dude calls me all the time and when I mention to him that I explained my situation to him before he goes "oh yeah, I have to take your number off of my list. Then he calls back in a few days and we go through it again.....IDIOT!!!!!

He's what I did, this dipsh!t called for an ex employee who I told them has left. Dipsh!t demands info on his whereabouts, So I say, You know you can't be asking these type of questions right ? He says, " I can ask whatever I want". I say give me 1 minute, don't hang up. Put him on speaker and tell him, I need to let you know you're benn recorded, I ask his name, who he works for, and if it's a personal call ?.

2-4 calls aday..for no reason...they said i own money...i do not owe a dime to a soul....they're nasty and refuse to stop calling, even after I told them I"m reporting them to the ftc....and any other source I can....
