I got a letter from Lily Shaw, vice president of some outfit calling itself "American" saying I had qualified for 2 free roundtrip tickets to anywhere in the US.  Sounds like a scam, so I didn't call their number.

I got one too.  Same person signed the letter, Lily Shaw, indicating I won 2 free roundtrip tickets to anywhere in the US.  I looked up the phone number on Spokeo & it's an invalid number.  It sure is funny that the letter head only shows the word American and no address.  I didn't bother to call.  Sounds like a scam to me.

The letter I received from Lily Shaw/American had a 1-866-802-2638 phone number. I didn't try the number, it does look like a scam.

I got the same letter, no return address, no official letterhead, hand addressed envelope. My husband called the number, the business is Direct Vacation Deals, they claim to be a ticket reseller, they buy in bulk. They ask if you if your income is 50k or more, if you refuse to say they hang up on you. They want to make an appt with you at a hotel for a sales pitch but they won't say what it is for other than they want to be your travel agent. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

5-25-13 Just got the same letter. I was suspicious because it only says American and logo is black. Thanks for the message from person whose husband called!

I received a letter that said I must reply by 6-1-13 or no ticket. So look's like I'll stay home.  Too bad Lily.

I got the same letter too. I don't want to go anywhere anyway, can't bare leaving my dogs and cats behind. Screw you Lily Shaw.

The letter I received was identical to the above posts. It was dated May 25th, 2013, and said I must reply by June 5th. It said "The retail value of this award is up to $1350. Certain restrictions apply."  Of course, she also said they had attempted calling us several times without success, asnd this was their last attempt. The number they gave me was 866-244-4003.

I got the same letter and knew it was a scam because a local news station reported on it. Throw them away and don't cave into temptation. The Better Business Bureau will always tell you if it sounds to good to be true it is!!

Its a scam---no information about the Company on the letter,no address and no indication how you might have been selected for this amazing offer............................

I got that same black and white letter in the mail
I knew right away it was a scam because of the logo at the top of the page is NOT AMERICAN AIRLINES
AND IT DOES NOT STATE AIRLINES
also all of us got this mail. Mine was in the wrong spelling of my name was also a warning
mine was also signed lily shaw and the 866-802-2638. I think I am going to return this to the post office for a scam....

Yep! I got the same letter (American, reply by June 5th , and 2 roundtrip airline tickets anywhere in the continental US, retail value $1,350, phone number 1-866-244-4003).

I did receive a call last week that I remembered when I read this letter. I thought the call was suspicious as well. The caller had a southern accent and it didn't sound professional.

Definately a scam. Thanks everyone for posting so others can be warned. I'm certainly glad that all of your comments came up right away when I Googled Lily Shaw-American!

Received a similar letter today, only they listed a different number (866) 244-4003

Just got mine.  Thank goodness for google and all of these responses!  Btw - we are in Virginia, too.
