- boog| 11 repliesReceived a call from a blocked number say they were coming to serve me court documents between noon and 5. Gave me this number to call back if I needed to reschedule. Don't they know the Marshall delivers court documents without warning. Scam. Said her name was jen baker and she had paper faxed to her and that she would be delivering them personally.

- MJG replies to JF| 2 repliesReal process servers do NOT call first!! The caller is hoping to find an uninformed person they can extort money from.
- JF replies to MJGOkay thank you!
- Married2ProcessServer replies to MJGA real process server might call you if they had papers for you but they certainly won't threaten you the way this illegal debt collection company does.
- kd replies to boog| 5 repliesSheriff deliver papers - or process servers - these are all scams - NEVER call back - NEVER give your NAME - that's how people get scammed - call the Police Dept. and give them the number and they will tell you - or do a CCAP search on yourself to see if you are being sued by anyone - Don't be dumb and answer questions by anyone claiming to be a Police Officer especially when the caller ID doesn't come up with and Official Police Dept. phone number that you can look up and confirm - BE SMART!

- Alfalfa replies to LarryHow can I verify whether or not a debt collector is legitimate?
Here are a few warning signs that could signal a debt collection scam:
The debt collector threatens you. Legitimate debt collectors probably won't claim that they'll have you arrested or claim that they or their employees are law enforcement officers.
The debt collector refuses to give you information about your debt or is trying to collect a debt you do not recognize. You have certain rights to ask a debt collector to verify the debt. You can use this sample letter to request this information. Ask for an explanation in writing before you pay.
The debt collector refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number.
The debt collector asks you for sensitive personal financial information. You should never provide anyone with your personal financial information unless you are sure they're legitimate.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his or her name, company, street address, telephone number, and professional license number. Many states require debt collectors to be licensed. Check the information the caller provides you with your state officials, or the state in which the debt collector holds a license. If the caller refuses or is unable to provide you with information about his company, or if you can’t verify the information he provides, do not give money to the caller or company.
Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." This notice must include:
The amount of the debt
The name of the creditor you owe
A description of certain rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, consider requesting this information in writing or seeking assistance before paying the debt to make sure the debt, and the company, are valid.
Tip: You can consider sending the collector a letter requesting the information by using one of the CFPB's sample letters. You can also submit a complaint to the CFPB or you can contact your state Attorney General’s office.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know the company or person you are talking with is a real debt collector. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft such as:
Charging your existing credit cards
Opening new credit card or checking accounts
Writing fraudulent checks
Taking out loans in your name
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Submit a complaint with the CFPB or get in touch with your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers.
Stop speaking with the caller. If nothing else works and you believe the calls are fraudulent, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files.
Tip: You can use this sample letter to write a letter demanding the debt collector stop contacting you. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Tip: If you're having trouble with debt collection, you can submit a complaint with the CFPB online or by calling (855) 411-CFPB (2372).
http://www.consumerfinance.gov/ - KadeshaThe automated system called and asked for my mom and left a case number. The message said a payment was processed on her account and that they were calling to verify. When I called back they said they were then looking to deliver legal documents. Obviously things didn't add up so I flat out asked if they were a scam and of course they claimed to not be. But they refused to give me their location or what place the supposed account derived from. Then he hung up once he realized I wasn't giving him anything. I'm reporting this number anywhere I can (online, the local sheriff's office) and to have my bank to check on my account and up security measures.
Thank you to everyone who reported!!! This was very helpful.- Caller: WW Arbitration

- SherriThis number called my aunt and left message for me to call them with a ref number. I called back and the lady insisted I had taken a payday loan in 2011 and these people were going to sue me! I insisted I wanted something in writing showing it was me and she talked all around that and then insisted on putting someone on the phone who could help me! Man got on phone barely spoke English who argued with me and insisted that I owed 100$ more than what she said and when I called him out on it he got belligerent and said that the lawyer would see me in court with my file that was in a lockbox and have a nice day and hung up on me! I had a similar situation happen before and have reported it to the authorities!
- SharonJust received a call with the same recorded message as above, thanks to reading I will not give them the satisfaction of calling them back.
- katiebMr. Daily with World wide Arbitration called threatening that my husband was going to be arrested on a certain day and time. When I called the number back, they refused to provide info and documentation about a payday loan that we have no clue about. They claimed that a deposit was made into a bank account that had been closed for 2 1/2 years prior to the supposed deposit from a company that we never got a loan from. When I asked for "actual documentation" they hung up on me. (Bullying and Harrassing)

- Ronda Johnson-Dove| 1 replyA man named "Agent" Roger Carter called and left me a very aggressive and unprofessional voice mail yesterday. I smelled a scam right away, as I was getting similar calls for my husband last year (yep, here we go again!) so I was on guard this morning.
Same fishy story, first he could not get my name right. He kept calling me Wanda, not Ronda. He kept saying he had to give me the information from his "client" which was some random company called Triple Financial and that I took out a internet payday loan from them (the same story they harassed my husband about last year). I have never heard of Triple Financial and I have never taken out a payday loan over the internet.
I requested written documentation be sent to me, but he constantly interrupted me when I requested it, saying he was just going to transfer the call to their legal department and have them file claims on me in court and have me arrested. This is all scare tactics and I guess he was just mad he wasn't getting one over on me. I finally told him I knew my legal rights and if he refused to follow the law, then I knew he was running a scam and he was wasting his time with me. That is when he started screaming and I just hung up on him. I did call him back to let him know I was filing a complaint with the Washington State Attorney General's office. He started threating to have me arrested again. I just laughed and told him good luck with that and hung up.- Caller: Worldwide Mediation
