Caller said he was calling from "Dallas" and that he was with IBM. Did not know the serial number of the machine that he was calling about.

Woman with Indian accent called inviting me to Oracle Openworld Conference in September. I told her I did not attend these conferences. She wanted to know why and I said because of my job. I also mentioned that other people would be attending from my company. I believe this is a scam because the vendor does not call their customers to invite them to one of their conferences.

Yea, I get the same call inviting me to Open world conference.

Yes, they are calling from Oracle Open World. They do this every year.  Our company has attended in the past.  They are just trying to drum up more business.  It's a great conference for anyone who uses Oracle.
