MY Husband is in Oshkosh correctional, and he said they just redid the phone system, but what is
funny the 866 number showed up on my phone all day, then tonight it showed up blocked. Who knows.
DOES ANYONE KNOW THE NEW COMPANIES NAME VERSES CORRECTIONAL BILLING SERVICES?

OK that number stating calling my house yesterday. 866-718-4777 about a love one in a correctional facility.  I have no idea who it is.  What are the rates?

The rates vary because you either prepay or the call billed on your regular phone bill. Either way you MUST prearrange/setup CORRECTIONAL BILLING. The rate for me like 12 cents a minute & they only allow you to talk in 15 minute intervals. Each call cost me like $1.80.

I am not understand why you are getting a call IF you did NOT prearrange CORRECTIONAL BILLING. I myself had to get pre-authorized to receive calls~which is standard policy.

I believe although the number still comes up 866-718-4777 it still is Correctional Billing (probably a different division or subsidiary company) I say this because I called that number back & it is Correctional Billing. The whole thing is confusing. It really sucks that we are forced into using specific billing services

I got a call from this phone number, and I don't know of any loved one of mine that is in a correctional facility.  Any idea why I would receive a call from them?  Is this a hoax?

Being an ex deputy I suspected this to be a gimmick or a hoax. The current research acknowledged this is private landlines used by many individuals to reach anyone (not just individuals with family members in correctional facilities.)
The most important thing is to never--- never accept charges for any collect calls and do not give any personal information out over the telephone to anyone,

Well, I happen to be sitting by the phone and let it pick up on answer. If it is my loved one, then I pick up and accept.

I got the same call.  I have friends that lack judgement sometimes, so I thought it was one of them in jail.  Was some guy asking me to call someone, and he rambled, trying to keep me on the phone.  Must have gotten a percentage of the charges.

I got a call from this number; well actually 4 calls but I missed the first 3, the 4th one I hesitantly answered only to find out that it is for real. The call was Free and it connected me to a co-worker who was REALLY in jail and needed help. The company is Evercom/T-netix Correctional facility billing service.

At first a recording came on when I answered and said I had a call from XXXXX (whom I knew), the company was identified as Evercom and said that XXXXX was in Jail, also that it is a free call and to press 1 to connect to the conversation. I thought it was a telemarking scam but I pressed 1 and was connected with a co-worker who was really in jail and needed help getting out.

I'm not saying every call from this number is not a scam; just that mine was not. But they did give me the persons name right away at the beginning of the recording.

I started receiving calls from this number but they were being placed against my fax number.  I have received approximately 30 calls in a 24 hour period.  How do I stop them.  I have no family members in a correctional facility.  The calls were not placed to a company but to a private fax number, used for my personal business.  I am a secretary for the ILWU Federated Auxiliaries and need it for those purposes!
Can you please help me stop the calls?

These calls are not collection calls they are from a CORRECTIONAL FACILITY.  I would like to stop them, THE SOONER THE BETTER.

I am in the telecommunication industry and if you answer these types of calls if you hang up first they will stay on the line.Depending on the central office your phone service comes from they can get dial tone back and make long distance calls that will be billed to your phone number.

About 2.00 for a 20 minute call if you are in Wisconsin and your loved one calls you collect.

Oh to the people who do not want anyone calling collect just listen to the prompt message and press the one that says never allow them to call your house again, then press that number and NOONE can try to call you from the Jail again. Atleast that is how it was done for one of my sisters.

My brother is in jail, and we recieved a call from him at that number it is real!

Received 3 calls from this number in the space of about 20 minutes, around 3:30PM CDT on 29JUN2010.

It was a robo call on behalf of a correctional facility to take a collect call.  The first time it said the call was from "Bill", but we hung up.  The second time we didn't answer.  The third time it was from "Elvis"; we hung up again.

We don't know anyone in any correctional facilities, and don't know anyone named "Elvis".

Keep getting calls from these idiots whoever they are. We have caller ID so I do not pick up. But it is getting annyoing. Wonder if we can file a complaint?

Got a call from 866 718 4777 at 3:42 AM 04 August 2010. Caller ID says it is from a toll free #. Awakened from sleep nat this hour of the morning - not thinking -  I pressed # 1. After hearing that it was from someone hat I did not know I hung up. I will call the phone company when their office opens to try to remove any charges and block this #. Seems like this # should ID as a call from jail and not a toll free #.

I just got a call from this number. I live in NY on Long Island. I do not know any men that are in jail. I couldn't understand the persons name they said was calling and the said it was a collect call so I immediately hung up....whats up with this?

i got a call from this number and i soon as i heard a recording mentioning a correctional institute i hung up. it has to be a hoax as i live in canada and have no relatives or friends living ir travelling in the US, never mind in jail.

Stop making random calls to people who don't know you & DON"T want to know you.
Ever hear of "Don't call us, we'll call you"??????????
