USAA called to say that I had used my card and then left a number for me to call.  When I returned the call they wanted my ssn and card number.  I refused and called USAA and let them know.  They have no record of this call to me and the number I was given is not a USAA number.

I received a call that told me I needed to call this number to verify charges on my account through US Bank.  It was shadey, so I called US Bank directly and they verified the number and forwarded me directly. It seemed a lot safer this way as I didn't have to supply much personal info.

Number is legit for US Bank Fraud Dept...called # on back of my card, they referred me to fraud dept (same # above) and sure enough some one used card for gas in a Southern State (I'm in North). They way the scam works is if your card works for gas they assume the number is good and will up the ante and try to use it for larger amounts. So, I'm getting a new card and some paper work to nullify the fraudulent charges! Almost ignored this call because I thought it was a scam!! It pays to check it out!!!

Received a call at home, this number was given to family members and relayed to me. I called it and it did seem a bit shady. I went against my better judgement and gave my info. It didn't sit well with me and I ended up on this site. The first post on here concerns me. However, I did call the number on the back of the card and asked about this number; they said it was legit. I'm paranoind enough to slightly question that but at some point I just have to go with it. I would appreciate any other responses/posts. If nothing else, BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR INFO, GUYS!

I also received a call from this number shortly after 8am on a Sunday morning.  Like most, I was skeptical, so I called US Bank directly.  They transferred me to the fraud department and this was legitimate.  Somehow, my card had been duplicated even though I still had it.  I had even checked my account online to see if there were any weird transactions.  Nothing showed because, thankfully, the bank had declined the charges.  Just be smart!

Got a call from 414-765-4321 and the message said they were from U.S. Bank Fraud and gave me the number 866-737-6844 to call back.  The number was legit.  Someone had copied my U.S. Bank debit card and was using it at gas stations and liquor stores in Florida---I live in Missouri.  They were able to reverse the charges right away and ship me a new card within the week.  The number is legitimate.

The number is legit. The original call was from (414) 765-4321. They didn't ask for my full social, but verified my name, billing address, and last 4 of the social, as well as the full card number (but no expiration or CVV code).

The voicemail script (read live by a human), transcribed by Google Voice reads like this:

Hi, This message is for <name>, Hi <name>, I'm calling with the fraud department at US Bank and the reason for my call is that were doing security checks off your U. S. Bank of Visa Check Card ending with <card last 4 digits> it's important that you return this phone call as soon as possible to verify recent activity. Our toll free number here is (866) 737-6844 and any one of our representatives will be able to assist you, Please have your card available when returning this phone call. We're open 7 days a week in 24 hours a day and we thank you for your business and have a great day.

This is a great site! Glad it showed up #1 in google search results.

Yes, this number is the US Bank Fraud Prevention line. I had the similar scenario mentioned above, and the weirdest part to me was that they wanted my entire check card number. That didn't seem like something they'd ask for over the phone. But I called the main US Bank line and they did indeed repeat the number for the Fraud Department and it was the same. Can't be too careful!

This number called me tonight. I do NOT have a card through US Bank. I called US Bank directly and they reported that this is NOT their fraud line. Furthermore, they ran me through the system and there are no accounts under my name. I also have no cards appearing as such on my credit report. This is a scam, folks! Don't fall for it.

Got a call from US Bank saying to call 1-866-737-6844 - because I thought it was a fraud call I called our US Bank number on the back of the cards they mentioned in the call.

Then went through to US Banks Fraud Department.  This number IS LEGIT it it to US Banks Fraud Department.

Our Cards had suspicious charges and have been removed.  Fortunately this was caught before more charges could be made to our account.

US BANK said if you get a call and aren't sure - you can always call the contact bank number for your card that is on the back of the card.

Take it serious and call your bank.  We have had our card numbers stolen too many times and it is a headache!

I called this number and did not want to give out my acct. info.  The bank representative had me call my bank directly at the number on the back of my card (so I was comfortable who I was talking to).  The number was legit, there was fraud occurring with my account.

I called the # and hung up on the poor girl when asked for my SSN.  Called 612-US BANKS and they connected me to the same #.  Someone was trying to do some shopping at Wal-Mart in Marietta, GA with my card.  I live in Minneapolis.

I called the number because about an hour before I got the call, I had  trouble charging a software package that originated out of the UK (my card was declined) .  I was apprehensive and the man who answered my return call said he could not verify who he was over the phone and to call the number on the back of my CC then transfer over to the fraud dept.  I actually got the same person when I went through the many transfers to get to the fraud department.  He told me that the UK charge over the internet was suspicious and they had put a hold on my account.  He was very very nice, personable and polite and he got the hold taken off my card.  I am so glad that US bank is on top of things and is careful to prevent frauds and keep me safe!

This was a legit fraud call from US Bank.  I called back to 877-737-6844 and there was fraudulent activity on my debit card.  I even had my husband log in to our internet banking from home to verify before I called.  Apparently, some scam company was charging $5 to my card just to see if it was active before charging a much larger sum.  US Bank was aware of the scam and put a freeze on my card.  Wow, that was close!

I got a legitimate call from this number today. Needed my full number, but were able to confirm on their end that they were legitimate as they could view my full statement. My number got stolen and charged $40 on my card in Tokyo! They gladly canceled my card and repealed it.

    This is not US Bank
All of you who are saying it is legit are part of the scam! This is not the US Bank number. A quick trip to their website will tell you that it's not the right number. These asshats are phishing and when you call them back they want to get more info from you. These dummies called me and I do not even have a US Bank account and they got my name wrong. Do not fall for this! They may have your info so it's good to call your bank directly and confirm everything is fine, but this number is not legit! Get a real job losers!
