    Its ATT U-Verse calling with a quality survey - which I would be more than happy to take if I could understand the woman.

    They called; asked me to give them my customer information; didn't have the correct name; I couldn't understand them; said they were AT&T; said they didn't understand why I wouldn't give them my PIN number.  When I asked her to put someone else on the line, I was put on hold - and the music had so much static I couldn't hear it.

    I just got exactly the same message as srk posted.  AT&T telling me I placed a Uverse order.  I had to replay the message several times as the person's English was horrendous.  Needless to say I won't be calling them back.

    Just got a call
    866-738-5658. I just got a call from this number, asking for the pass word on my account because they had a call for installation  at my house.  I did not call AT&T U VERSE for installation.  The woman on the phone kept insisting that I give her my address and pass word.  I told her to get off my phone and hang up.  I called the number back and she answer on the second ring and said this is AT&T.  We all know they never answer so fast.

    I received the following text:
    ///
    AT&T Free Msg: Your U-verse service order due 09/03 requires immediate attention to ensure accurate installation/billing. Please call us at 866.738.5658.
    ///

    I did what any of you should do... I called the main ATT number (800-288-2020) asked the autobot for "Fraud".  I asked ATT Fraud protection, they checked my account and found that there was no reason for anyone to be asking for this information.
    I will be looking into sending the the FTC Fraud advisory as well

    Call from Scammer
    The person on this number claims to be from ATT. I called AT&T and the customer service rep said it is not from them. They were asking for personal information.

    This is a scam.  They called me telling me first that they needed my rental lease to verify I actually moved into the house.  Then they said I couldn't send the rental but needed to send my utility bill.  They were phishing for personal information.  I contacted AT&T on their regular number and they didn't see anything.  They did have my AT&T account.

    Called a couple of hours after I'd placed a U-Verse order at a local AT&T office.  Caller had a thick Indian/Pakistani accent and immediately asked for my password, upon which I hung up.  I then called the local office & spoke to the person I'd dealt with earlier, who agreed with me that this was a scam attempt and would check their security to see if there was a breach that allowed the scammer to get my number.

    The person who called said she was from att but asked for my pass code.  I hung up when she wanted to verify my address.  If she really was att, she would know all of that information

    Right after I ordered Uverse, this number called me also, and they said they were AT&T Uverse.  They said there was a problem with my order, and they wanted my PIN code to verify my identity.  I would not give it to them, and they would not tell me what the call was regarding without the code.  I called AT&T directly (877- 331-0446), and they said there was no problem with my order, that call had been a scam, and it was good I did not give out my PIN.

    However, this number, 866-738-5658, called again.  This time, even though I still refused to give them the PIN or any other info, they told me what the problem was (the old tenant in my new apartment had not yet cancelled their service).  They knew all the data about my account (account number, phone number, name, address), and could tell that the person who was in the apartment before me had yet to cancel their AT&T service.  I talked to the old tenant and confirmed he hadn't cancelled yet.

    This is a legitimate number.  They did know the information about my account, and knew who the old tenant was (they knew his name and phone number, too) and could tell his service was still active.  Depending on who you talk to, they just ask for your PIN to verify your identity.  It was the 877 number I called that couldn't tell there was a problem with the order.  I specifically asked them if the old tenant had cancelled his service, and they said I would not have been able to schedule my service appointment if that was the case.

    Both numbers are legitimate, it's just a case of the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing.  Such a pain.  I wish I had a better option for an ISP.

    At&T Uverse. Confirming names and addresses on record.
    Four days ago I set up an order for new service in my name instead of the existing service under name of spouse. I was promised they would continue or port my current landline number and give me the new service 24mo. guaranteed price. I was told everything was fine fine fine. When I received the new service confirmation email...in fact the landline number was not ported and different.landline phone number was assigned.  Two days ago, I Called again. AT&T told me they would not change the order to the correct phone number. The only choice I had was to cancel new service order and try again. I was told I could not have a cancellation number/no such thing/email to be sent would suffice. Today this 866 number called. They were confirming spouse and address on account. When I asked I was told In fact the order for new service was not cancelled two days ago as promised. I was just  given a cancellation for the new service order. I can only hope now that AT&T will not shut off current service in spouse's name in a few minutes.......

    Hello.  Yes it is a Scam.
    I too received calls from this number pressuring me to cancel my new Att order and go with their better Wi-do offer.
    I said no. I didn’t trust that guy even though I had just finished a phone call with an actual Att Spvr 5 minutes earlier. I think they are being hacked and getting customers information.  They had my name and what I had just requested.  I called back and number is disconnected.  I called Att and Spvr told me to block that number.  Att does not know what to do about this.  Till then just u call them.
