I found an add on craigslist saying "mail carriers needed", and it said to call 1-866-747-7110 to apply.  So I did this and they wanted $99.50 for the study guide and to take "the exam".  Then I went to the USPS actual website and noticed something saying, "Warning - Caution, Avoid scams". "Don't be enticed by Postal Exam scams. YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY ANYONE to schedule or take a federal Postal Exam."

I seriously wanna hunt these people down now.

I saw the same listing today and called and they wanted me also to pay before they would tell me the test dates and locations, they said that I would get the money back if I did not pass the test or did not get hired within a week of taking the test.  After I heard that I had to pay I hung up.  Why would I have to pay to take a test sounds a little fishy to me.

I clicked a the link for a job on craigslist here in Austin TX and got redirected to this website

    www.jobregistration.us

I spoke to a rude lady and found out they are selling a study guide which you can get for free from the post office. I really would like to work for the post office and scammers like this piss me off so I found out the following to hopefully save some people from being scammed.

I googled the phone number and found this forum so I am posting this here as well.

I did a lookup on http://centralops.net/co/ and found out who owns the site.

    Registrant Name:                             bradley pretzer
    Registrant Organization:                     bradley pretzer
    Registrant Address1: [removed]

The only thing I don't have is this jerks apartment number. It is probably a husband and wife scam team since I spoke with a lady and it looks to be registered to a guy.

Good work.  I have been checking the USPS website and did again after reading the ad on Craig's List.  I knew something was wrong as there was a disclaimer on the 877 number AND NO OPENINGS on the real website when I opened it.  WHAT A SCAM!  Oh well, there's always Karma :]

You are not paying for the exam you are paying for the materials to study for the test that you cannot get from the post office I ordered it and passed my test and now I have a great job at the post office. The exam was FREE and I would not have been able to pass my test if I did not get that material..Good luck to all

I called these people up, and the lady I spoke to ("michelle") was very nice and informative. She only brought up at the end that I would be charged 99.00. I asked if there was any way I could confirm it and she said I could get a refund later. I should have known it sounded too good to be true, but I let myself get suckered. Does anybody know how I might be able to rescind the charge???

    Scambuster replies to Postofficeworker
Postofficeworker is obviously an "employee" of this scam operation. They actually told me there were openings for 4 different jobs in the city that I live in, while the official USPS website showed NONE! They lie and make you think that you are applying for employment with the USPS, but you are paying $100 for study guide materials that you can obtain for FREE.

I urge anyone who sees this phone number posted under Jobs on Craigslist to mark it as a scam immediately.

I also fell for this scam and paid the $99.50!!  After I paid it, I had a gut feeling something was wrong and found your posting on this site!!!  I immediately called my bank, cancelled the charge, cancelled my cards, and password protected all of my accounts.  I also double checked with the USPS and found a place on their website that clearly states THEY DO NOT CHARGE FOR PREPATORY MATERIAL AND DO NOT ENDORSE ANY COMPANY THAT DOES!!!
This guy is a freaking dirtbag!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  What goes around comes around!  He'll get his!

I saw the add on craigs list and I was just about to give them my card number, but it seemed wrong. I hung up and I could not find any info regarding that number on the USPS site. I asked the woman in the phone about the fact that I had just looked on the site and there were not any jobs listed as being available. She said that the jobs list was updated weekly and that it was a new batch of jobs. People are evil.

    Hello!

I worked as an letter carrier and Postal supervisor for 20 years. You do not start a $20 per hour, more like 13 or 15 per hour. The only jobs the Postal service offer is part time non career. The Postal service is trying to down size, not hire.
