A recording of a guy that said his name is Michael Nelson. Saying he has an importnant matter to discuss today. Other calls with exactly the same message except the same voice said his name is Michael Cunningham and the number he wants you to call is 1-800-608-5423.

Call several times a day for my father and when I ask what it is about they tell me it's personal and can't discuss it with me unless my dad gets on the phone and tells them it's ok to talk to me.  I tell them he can't hear and won't talk on the phone and they keep badgering me to just have him say "ok" on the phone.  I tell them it must nust be important otherwise they would tell me who they are and what the call is about.  They gave me a fax number 773-380-6232, to fax over power of attorney saying I can talk to them about his personal business.They called today and i went through the same spiel and called the number back and they knew who was calling by the phone number I dialed.

Illinois Sues Debt Collector

Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan has filed a lawsuit against a Chicago debt collection agency for allegedly using unfair tactics, intimidation and misrepresentations to convince consumers to make payments when, in some instances, the consumers never owed the money.

The lawsuit names Leading Edge Recovery Solutions, L.L.C., as the defendant. Leading Edge Recovery Solutions, an Illinois limited liability corporation based in Chicago, collects debts on behalf of various entities, including credit card and installment debts.

Madigan's Consumer Protection Division has received 53 complaints against Leading Edge Recovery Solutions. According to these complaints, consumers made payments ranging from $300.00 up to $2,900.00 and, in some instances, Leading Edge Recovery Solutions deducted payments directly from consumers' bank accounts without the consumers' authorization.

"Based on the numerous consumer complaints that we have received, Leading Edge Recovery Solutions and its representatives have harassed and intimidated consumers in Illinois and throughout the United States to obtain payments on alleged debts," Madigan said.

The lawsuit, filed in Cook County Circuit Court, alleges that Leading Edge Recovery Solutions has attempted to collect on debts that are as much as 20 years old and, in some cases, are not even owed by consumers. When consumers have responded to contacts from Leading Edge Recovery Solutions by requesting proof that they actually owe the debt, the company has failed to provide such proof.

Madigan alleges that as part of its collection efforts, Leading Edge Recovery Solutions sent collection letters and contacted consumers by telephone, often using abusive language or improperly contacting consumers at their places of employment.

The complaint specifically alleges that representatives of Leading Edge Recovery Solutions made numerous misrepresentations during their collection efforts, including:

• That they are attorneys and that the company would file a lawsuit if the debt is not paid;

• That the company would file a lien against the consumer's property if the debt is not paid;

• That the consumer could be arrested or imprisoned for failing to pay the debt;

• That the consumer's wages would be garnished if the debt was not paid; and

• That the company would take other actions that would have an adverse impact on the consumer's credit report if the debt is not paid.

Madigan's lawsuit asks the court to prohibit Leading Edge Recovery Solutions from engaging in the business of collecting or attempting to collect on debts, and from further violating Illinois' consumer protection laws. The lawsuit seeks civil penalties and requests that the court order Leading Edge Recovery Solutions to pay restitution to consumers.

I'm getting calls at work now from these people saying it is urgent to reply today. Are they not allowed to contact you at work? Does anyone know?

They are calling my place of work several times a day and asking to speak to payroll to garnish wages.  This man says his name is Mr Lee and he has a very intimidating and harrassing manner.

Got the same call as most of you did. The person spoke so fast I don't recall his full name but it sounded like Mike Nelson. If you read this Mike, I'm not calling you!

Calls my folks several times a week saying that they owe money from 1990 -- they don't - tried to explain that and he wouldn't listen.  When I answered the call and tried to get him to tell me what he wanted my father for he would only say a business call and that it involved his social security!

Looked the phone number up and found out who he really is!  He said his name was Mr. Santana and he was from "Leading Edge"

Note: No one by the name of Mr. Nelson works at this place!

Received call from same number. Again and again and again!! This call was from a Mr. Santana, he left a message and he demanded I return his call and then was asinine enough to also say "Do not blow this off!"

Calls all the time, Just wont stop...

Called @ 12:25 pm today; Left Message:  "This is Mike Nelson, you can reach me @ 866-756-3912; it's important that we talk.  Once again, this is Mike Nelson @ 866-756-3912; looking forward to hearing from you."

What a nuisance - I have no idea who this is and/or why they are calling.  I feel if they don't want to leave me a message as to what the phone call is regarding, I don't return the call (hopefully they'll get the hint and leave more details)!!!

left message as stated above from Mike Nelson.  I called them back, asked for Mike Nelson, lady was rude and stated that Mr. Nelson is not available, they had my number listed under another persons name.  Some sort of debt collector.

This guy Mike Nelson will NOT stop calling my home with the following message:  "Hello, this is Michael Nelson.  It is urgent that we talk.  Please call me today at 1-866-756-3912."  How do we get this stopped.

They sometimes leave message.  Even if you answer, they might not answer.

My mom called me (we live in different states now) and said they called her house asking for me.  I haven't lived there in 18 years.  Apparently the woman was very rude and demanded to speak with me and to get my contact information.  My mom refused, but later, another nicer woman called and gave my mom her contact info and asked if I would call back, and ask for Claudia.  I did, but she wasn't there, and the woman who answered the phone tried to find my account info by asking for my social security number.  Obviously, I didn't give it.  After reading this, I'm not going to bother trying to contact them.  No Michael Nelson.  My contact was Claudia Rodriquez from Leading Edge Recovery Solutions.

This number calls but doesn't leave a voice message. When I answer, no one is there. I can't imagine who I owe money too.

This number has called me several times and left 2 voicemails.  The first was from that michael nelson guy saying he is calling for Evette something? not me, and that it is urgent that he speak to her/me and gave a number to call him back at; this message was hard to understand and it sounded like there was very loud typing in the background.  The second voicemail was from  a woman again asking for this Evette woman saying she needed to discuss someting with her/me and then cut out in the middle of the voicemail.
