- BillI do not know who 866-761-1124 belongs to. I was charged $30 for no apparent reason. I do think is linked to one of these Payroll Loan Shark Outfits. I was also charged a $20.00 Withdrawal Fee of $20. On my bank statement it was listed as: Withdrawal Fee %% ACH ECC WEB. The withdrawals were on the same day and were listed one after the other on my statement.

- Jenn| 1 replyAccording to the bank a "misc withdrawl" of $30.00 was made using phone number 866-761-1124. When I called that number they told me I had signed up for their "membership". I told him I did no such thing, did not authorize a withdrawl, and needed it cancelled and the withdrawl put back into my account or I would turn them in for fraud. He cancelled my account and gave me a confirmation number for the reversal stating it would be put back into my account within 20 days. We'll see.

- anonymous replies to KatherineThis is a version of the automatic debit scam as described by the FTC here http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/telemarketing/tel06.shtm It's frequently mysterious as to how they got your account info in the first place. They might be fraudulently charging accounts at random, or you might have provided your account for a free something like $-off coupon or a shopping card (just pay for shipping), or provided your account when you applied for a payday loan, and buried in the fine print is authorization to auto-charge your account every month with 3rd-party, perhaps difficult-to-cancel subscriptions. The methods used to get you to "agree" to the fine print is endless and they come up with new schemes every day.
By law, all 3rd-party phone billers have to include phone numbers with their charges. If you don't see a number on your bill, call your phone company, tell them you need the biller's number and they should be able to retrieve the number for you from their records. To stop the billing, call the biller to kill the subscription and get your money back and if that fails, tell your card issuer or bank that fraud has occurred and have them refund the money and replace the account - this is important, the account must be replaced because criminals have it and they can charge again or sell account info to other criminals. Report to the Internet Crime Complaint Center http://www.ic3.gov/complaint/default.aspx , the Federal Communications Commission http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm , the Federal Trade Commission https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ and your state AG, as appropriate. - LaurieBe very careful with these people. They offer a membership for people looking for loans online and have a one-time $30 membership fee. I spent over an hour trying to get a refund on the money they took from our account since we never authorized the membership. After 3 calls and 2 hangups, I was able to secure a refund confirmation number from them, however, it will be 20 days before we will see it back in our account. I'm still not sure how they managed to get a hold of our account information but have been told that they advertise all over the internet and when you order something online you hvae to read all of the small print to prevent these types of things from happy. Very sneaky how they managed to do this!

- Mr.LosI was charged $30 from my account as well... I just called the number that was listed next to the charge.. 866-761-1124 it was for some membership fee that was part of a payday loan. The woman on the phone tried to offer me some other stuff, I cut her off and told I didn't want to know about anything she had to offer and all I wanted to hear was "OK SIR I have a refund for you" well after 2 more times of her trying to offer me some other products and me cutting her off and tell her NO i just want a refund she said it's being processed and it would be 10-20 days. I think I'm still have my bank dispute it.
