I have been reciving a lot of hang up call...or no one on the line??  I got a call today w/ a message, but after checking the net, realized that this is a collection agency...?  as far as i know i don't have any collection accounts outstanding....using my name, and leaving a c/b number, but no idea what the call is in reference to?  I want to be off the list!  I am out of a job...so even if i did owe it...guess having electricty would be more important?  "We the People" need a break!

This company calls to verify personal info but doesn't
Want to tell you the reason for the call if you do not
    Give them any info.
It would be nice if they say ( I am calling don Joe regarding
???? Is the don Joe at so address and the matter for the call.
Instead of calling every don Joe and ask for their
    Personal info.

This company keeps calling for my son. On more than one occasion, I have told them that my son does not live here and to stop calling. This "company" has my son's number and calls him also.

Actually, the best verbage is "there is no one here by that name.  Please stop calling" and hang up.  Don't confirm he's your son, tell the nothing, do not agree to take or pass on a message.  You have no legal obligations to these folks, and they have no legal rights where you are concerned.  While it could be for a legitimate reason, with all the extortion scams going on, making family part of the pressure is one of the strongest steps in getting people to pay off; they hope your family/friends/ employer will pressure you to pay them off.  So don't be part of the problem; just hang up.

Has called multiple times over the last couple of weeks, but only tonight left a voice message.  The non pre-recorded message said to call a number if this was the wrong number for [person they were calling],  or stay on the line.  They then said they were calling about collection of a debt.  I called them back several hours later and spoke to an agent, telling him that I'd never heard of the person they were trying to reach.  He claimed they'd remove my number from their system (I didn't provide any information other than the name of the person they were trying to reach).

The person they were calling had the same last name as mine. It seems there's a never ending stream of debt collectors calling for different unknown people, all with my last name. I keep a close eye on my credit report and don't see anything funny (I have no debts of my own).  Are all these guys now just mass dialing everyone with the same last name as a standard debt collector tactic(?)

These people are looking for Eugene and/or Norma Cook of 24 Empire Lane, Flat Rock, NC 28731. Why or how they got my phone No. I do not know but their calls are mis-directed, I believe in part due to a screw-up by ATT in May of 2012. I have made several attemts to straighten them out, to no avail. In spite of being on the National Do NOT Call list the calls continue!

Send them a letter VIA certified mail with return receipt requested demanding they stop calling or you will take legal action against them for harassing a non-debtor under the FDCPA and violating privacy laws under the TCPA (DNC).

When do you or someone at the workplace plan on telling the agency to stop? That's one of your rights, as already mentioned in this thread long ago.
