TracFone left a message to call this number (866-806-1840).  My caller ID showed that they called from 800-867-7183.  I was on the phone with someone else from TracFone working on a problem with my phone, so this could be legitimate (?).

yes the number belongs to straight talk and trackphone. that is a corp number

it is saying "text message" We are closing your account phone number will discounted "turned off network". I have not set for account closed? what is this?

You might want to call Straight Talk on a number you trust, or go to their web site and see if there is any info about recent scams.  Or google "Straight Talk Text Message Scams".   Messages that don't make sense are very often scams or pranks.

I called customer service about my phone coverage.  A few days later I got a call back from this nbr.  It was for several wireless co.

Scammers get jobs at legit companies, then steal customers by giving them a "direct access" number to call, instead of the actual company's boring old (legitimate) 800 number.

Their scammer buddies are waiting for you at this "direct access" number to take your credit card!!

Happened also w Lenovo tech support. When I fell for/ trusted the "direct access" number, scammer reps hacked into/installed malware on my PC... right in front of my eyes.  :(

This is a wireless phone customer support organization.  They handle "problems/issues" with phone service for a variety of companies including Tracfone, Straight Talk, Net 10, Safelink, Total Wireless, and maybe others as well.  I received a call from them (866-806-1840) giving me an update on a repair I had requested.  They provided me with the correct "Repair Order Ticket" number and were fully knowledgeable about the specifics of the phone service issue. They provided info to me.  They did not ask for any info from me.  For these reasons, I believe the call was legitimate.

"I believe the call was legitimate." Yet you came to a phone number look-up site anyway. Why? Do you often look up known phone numbers? And it's interesting how you took the time to write your post yet failed to give any actual information about the caller, such as their business name.

This is a callback number for TracFone (called a Direct Response Hotline). A customer service agent will sometimes give you a 6-digit reference number that's just for you (it's your case number), that's good only for 2 weeks. You call this phone number and enter the reference number at the prompt, and you'll be connected to a live agent to help with your case. They will often call you from this phone number, about your case.
Some reference numbers for that line are not personal and are permanent extensions. For instance 332264 gets you their Portability department, who handles transfers (port-ins) of your telephone number from another company to TracFone. It's the same as 888-808-8010, except that toll-free works 24-hours. They also handle unauthorized port-OUTS from your TracFone service (port fraud or sim fraud), where somebody tries to move your TracFone service to another company (slamming). Another reference number that's a permanent extension is 267364 which is the Executive Resolution Department (ERD) Hotline, which handles escalated cases. Unfortunately that gets you outsourced agents in the Philippines, not their true ERD at TracFone headquarters in Miami Florida.

My mom got a message on home phone that she got approved for something from old service provider that new phone will start on September 15 at midnight.  We didn’t order a new phone and I pay for hers on my AT&T account.  Is this a scam?
