You will always be notified by certified snail mail if there is legal action against you.
They will never call you telling you they are going to send you legal action.
Block the number.  Dont answer when they call back.  Trust me.  I get these calls all the time because 5 years ago I took out a PDL (that I paid back).  but those scum sell your info to all these scammers trying to scare people who are in desperate situations as it is and only keep doing it because they are successful in scaring people.

Any debt collector who contacts you claiming you owe payment on a debt is required by law to tell you certain information about the debt. That information must include:
    The name of the creditor
    The amount owed
How you can dispute the debt or seek verification of the debt
If you ask them to send "certified verification of debt", the debt collector must provide that information via a written notice including that information within five days after contacting you.

Anyone being snotty, rude, intimidating, demanding payment immediately or avoiding specifics are 99.99999% scammers.

This number called me this morning and left a message; from Kevin Donovan and to call the number back regarding documents to be mailed to me. I called back and got a lady who put me on hold. When she finally picked up she said that I had an old account with First Bank Visa from 2006. Never heard of that place and none of my cards are from there. When I told her that was wrong and she needed to mail me verification of the claim, she got hostile and raised her voice. When I calmly asked her to stop raising her voice as that is harassing behavior, she told me to stop telling her how to do her job. She paused and then said, "you know what sir, you're a [***]"!! Then she hung up!! Total scam, I filed a complaint with the FCC.

These people are scumbags and scammers. They are trying to intimidate you. They call me at work on my cell at random times always with the same or a similar message from many different numbers. Every time I get a call I block it and go about my life. I have never defaulted on a valid debt, although I did go through a bankruptcy 8 years ago at which time all my debts were discharged. I haven't made a late payment to anyone since and have better credit than I have had in 20 years. These people are scammers trying to frighten people. The last person I actually spoke to said they needed to present me with papers and to call a different # and refer to case # blah blah blah. I said you can tell them to send me a letter to my PO box with details and that if they thought they had all my personal information they would certainly know my address and that I would immediately send it to my attorney to respond. They hung up before I could finish and I never got anything in the mail (big surprise since they have nothing on me and are scammers!!). They never give up, they just change phone numbers. Don't let them intimidate you. They can't show up at your work or home and arrest you and have you thrown in jail, something I have been threatened with multiple times. It doesn't work that way! Just hang up and block the number. And do NOT give them any information at all, nothing . They are not legitimate and if they were they would not be violating the law, they would use legitimate legal collection tactics. Just my opinion, hope this helps...

I did have some old debts from my younger days. I have been dealing with people like this for years. I have learned that #1, they are pulling most of the time from Debts of where the statute of limitations on the debt has run out. Say from 15 years ago, as they have done to me. DO NOT verify or give personal information. If they ask who you are by saying your name say that you refuse to disclose any information at all with them, If you have the capabilities as i do, you can add them to a call reject list.

It is a scam.  They have called me as well.  What they try to do is scare you with some erroneous debt they are going to serve court papers on.  Then they hope you will be worried enough to ask how to avoid going to court, that is when they offer you a deal to pay some money to them.  Don't pay them anything it is a scam.

Just got the same thing. The gal was very nice but what is scary is she did actually have my correct social AND address. NEVER confirm or say, "Well that's my info!" because they then have it. Offered to settle a MC debt that of course I never had, gave me run around and called me "honey and sweetie!" I kindly said she would get nothing from me. She stated she is marking it as "refusal" and that I would be served. Block number and be warned of SCAM!

I received the same voicemail from 'Kevin Donaldson'. When I called back, and asked for him, Sandy was rude from the jump. She said she was the arbitrator(sp?), and asked me to verify my address because she was sending Sheriffs Office to my home. All this without even telling me what the call was about, or even the so-called debt details. She said I owed $2400 for loans from 2008 and to either pay it now or I'll be arrested the next day. When I asked her to fax or email the details of said loan, she said she didn't care if I pay it or not, and expect to be arrested within 24- hours and hung up in my face. I called her back (for fun,actually-I had time to kill). She was even more hostile this time. So, I asked for a manager or supervisor and she said there was no one there above her. She's it. I then asked to speak to Mr. Taylor or Mr. James. And she became more hostile and told me she was not about to play games with me, wished me luck and hung up in my face, again. I'm not worried at all. I pay my bills......
