This is a collection agency for the controller's office for the Sales Tax Division of the State of Texas.  Very rude individuals.  Especially when they possess and attempt to convey inaccurate information.

I would say the conversation is not rude but they did take the company phone number and told me to give the routing number and account number of the company to get my company in to good standing.

These people should give a good introduction of themselves than give an impression that they are freak'in money snatchers.

Recevied a call today from a lady who said her name was Kim from the Texas State Comptrollers office.  First strange thing was she called me on my CELL PHONE which displayed a caller ID unknown.  I have 3 business lines however she calls my cell ... go figure.  At first she's very firm and stresses that I need to pay 2998.00 before the 31st (today is the 27th) or my assets will be frozen and a lein placed on my account for further collections.  I did not challenge her in any way, however I calmly let her know I was not in a position to pay the amount in demand.  I also informed her I had just left the local Comptrollers office about 10 days ago and was under the impression they "knew" I needed some time to complete the next years paper work before paying an amount.  In short ... what initially was a DEMAND for payment of 2998.00 bounced around from half of that amount to 1400 ... and then to 699 and then to 349 ... and ultimately a statment made saying "... since it was Chritsmas time shed wait till next year to call and I could pay 699.  (I was quite amazed)!  However she insisted that she obtain my banking ibnfo TODAY and would set up a payment for the date in January.  I informed her I was away from the office and she had called me on my cell ... she said she would call me back tomorrow afternoon.  I'm a bit concerned about this type of call for several reasons:  Even though I do need to file a return and I am past due, it perplexes me that the State Comptroller's Office calls me on my cell and not my main "published" business line!  Secondly, she seemed to have know personal knowledge of my recent dealings with the local State Comptrollers Office in which I had made several personal apperances to make payments on another (similar) matter.  Thirdly, she seemed quite pleased to learn that I was a "willing" individual to pay any amount but just needed some time to get a confirmed amount and date of payment.  Maybe this is a legit call but sure seemed to be a bit strange to me, cause they've NEVER called my cell on any previous matters and I do NOT recall ever giving it out to such an entity.  Needless to say I'm still a bit concerned and will be making some of my own calls to the local State Comptrollers Office.

call came in (not sure what the caller id showed) but the message said "I am calling you in regards to an important business matter in their office" the recording said to call 866-821-5890.  After reading the BIG long message below (or above, depending where my message will fall) re: Texas State Comproller, I think it is all a bunch of crap! Our office is located in Colorado and has no business with Texas, be VERY AWARE and do not give any any information or make payments to these people who are calling, if do not try and call the number the recording gives out or you will never get rid of them calling you!

This is an attempt to collect a debt, any information obtained will be used for that purpose. Please return the call to Mrs. Carter at #866-821-5890. Thank you." The caller id for this call is OSI and 262-787-4163 which is always busy. This is a fairly new unpublished number for me. In doing a Google search for NCL Financial Systems, I found a number of people that are being harassed by these people, with no debt issues. I have no debt issues at all, and have seen my 3 credit reports recently. I think this is a scam from reading several of the other posts for NCL/NCO or for me at least the wrong number.

getting this call evryday

Same story.  Had the same phonecall two days in a row, and couldn't get ahold of anyone when I attempted to return the calls.  I have no debt to my name, apart from our house mortgage, and we've never been late on that.  I feel certain it is a scam, and will be calling the Comptroller's office in the morning!

Yet another scam.

These people flood our office PBX about once a month.  1 call per account.  Which, unfortunately means we get 70+ phone calls in the time span of 15 minutes as one of the properties for an individual is behind on taxes and has 70+ tax folio #s.   We're a small office and found this to be very disruptive.  Fortunately our phone service provider was very helpful and blocked their calls at the switch.

I received many phone call with unknow call ID name, left 866 821-5890 for NCO collection company
for 3,000 which I am not have any debt.  sometimes they ask me my ss#....
It's scam.

They left me a pre-recorded message (on my cell phone no less!) stating they were calling to collect a debt. This was today 5/12/11. Weird thing about some of the other posts was that I too got a call from the Texas Comptroller's Office. They called me from a 512 (Austin, TX) area code which is why I answered my cell phone in the first place. I told them I could not dicuss on the phone and to send me a letter explainingh what they were talking about. They did LOL!

I've been called twice today from this number and when I answer; nothing. I DO owe back taxes to the state of Missouri, I really don't see why they would turn it over to a collection agency instead of going after my paycheck and, since they have, why one in Texas. If they are willing to cut me a deal like the woman in the above post, I'd pay them in a heartbeat. My credit rating, also, is very good and this is not showing up on the report. Weird.
