Claimed to be an attorney from Brachfeld Law Group. Much on the internet about this group being a scam.

This is Brachfield.  I've been receiving calls from them, and apparently they have been showing up as "Private Caller" at home or "Blocked" on my cell phone.

Finally I picked it up tonight and pretended to be someone else to get the information needed.  Same name (Mr. Holmes), same extension (6026) and that to call them back in regards to a "legal matter."

Now time to have some fun...this is going over a small, FIA account of some $1000, which they probably bought for about $75 at best...

Please note... after 3 yrs of NOT paying a debt.... its NOT LEGAL to Pursue Collections on it.  SO DONT EVER AGREE or ADMIT to anything.

Claimed that they don't buy debt. But have debt from their "client" LVNV Funding, AKA Resurgent. Do not pay these people. Always ask for a "validation AND verification" of debt. Which is to say, they are to provide you with the last statement generated by the original lender. You will need to mail the letter with either a signature confirmation or a return receipt requested.
They will then, if it is like LVNV, sell your debt to the next company. Repeat as necessary. These folks are going after the low hanging fruit. If you get panicked about the call and are willing to cave...they get a nice check.
If in the unlikely chance that they can provide to you a written "validation and verification" of debt, you are then in the position to negotiate. Remember that they bought your file for pennies on the dollar, so virtually anything you send will be profit to them. If you want to settle, make sure you get their offer in writing prior to sending money. Then use a cashier's check to send funds so they cannot get your bank account numbers or bank routing number.
Just remember that you can tell when a collector is lying because you can see their lips moving (Thanks Dave Ramsey).
If you really want to have fun, some collectors are unable to hang up. So, don't. Just talk to them like you are their grandmother...no substance...just a filibuster. Put them on hold frequently. Frustrate them to no end. If you are messing with them, they aren't getting paid and they are not harassing anyone else.

A very bad scam artist company, they go by several different names: Meridian Management, Brockfield Associates, Broadfield Law Group. They are nothing but bogus bottom feeders who buy old debt for pennies on the dollar. They have the audacity to say they are attorneys (what a joke) they are not attorneys at all, they are simply a bunch of jerks posing as lawyers. They are out to get your money. Never, never give them any personal information, or you are cutting your own throat. They are being investigated by the State of Calif, for bogus activity and harassment. Eventually all the so-called employees of this scam outfit will hopefully be behinds bars shortly. Do not let them upset you. Try to block their numbers if you have call block, and they will never get through, they will get only frustrated, & that is what they deserve. Do not be fooled by these phonies.

They are calling for Laura Manchester.  We don't know anyone by that name.  They did this last year.  We complained to the "do not call" registry and they stopped for a while.  They have started up again.  They are calling from several different numbers. They are robot calls.

Just had a call from them... 888 number now.

Don't owe you one red cent. Please don't call again.

Am tired of hearing from these people but they put a ding on my credit report.  Any suggestions?

Write a letter Request for validation of debt and do not call with out proof, send certified receipt . When they fail to respond and phone calls cease contact your credit providers of proof of error.

I just received a call from Erica. She identified herself as representing Brachfield Law Group and  asked to speak to my husband. I told her that he was out of the country and asked if I could help her.
She asked me to verify my husband's SS# was ****. I told her that I would not ask him to call her unless whe stated her purpose. She refused and I told her not to call back.

I just got a call from an automated voice at 866-837-6262 representing Brock...Law Firm.  I called back and waited on the line only to have a machine tell me to leave a message.  I have pristine credit and do have any old debt.  Dont respond to these people.

They just called me regarding a very old debt of my husband. When I asked what law firm they were calling from - the caller got mad. I then asked what state he was calling from and he stated that their law firm is in several states. Told me that by law he is not allowed to tell me which state he was calling from. Well, I am a paralegal and my specialty is creditor/debtor law and there are no such laws in any state that prevents an attorney (???) to specify where he is calling from.  Bottom line, as stated above - it is not a law firm but scam artists.
