- XxXxX Man| 4 repliesI couldn't find any record of this number anywhere on Google, so I'm posting my own experience in case anyone else gets a call, too. I got a call from a lady named Karen who was drilling me with questions about my address, my place of employment, my bank name, etc. She was giving my information to an attorney to file a lawsuit against me for a US Bank account I had back in 2005. I guess they're some kind of service processor? Anyway, she gave me the attorney's number and he offered me a settlement, so I just paid it instead of being sued for twice the amount.

- Icar555 replies to XxXxX Man| 1 replyI got the same call about 2 weeks ago and told them to f*** off. A week later they sued me and jacked up the balance with interest, attorney fees, court fees.
- Maui Zen replies to Icar555866-847-4539 just showed up on my caller ID. No message though. I do in fact have an old U.S.Bank overdraft account that went into collection. I don't want to call these people back if they're just going to sue me. Does anyone know who the collection agency is these guys are working for? I want to call another number so I can set up payments with them directly before they find my address and sue me as well.
- BamBam1975| 4 repliesThe company is Regent Asset Management Solutions in Overland Park Kansas. I spoke with one of their collectors at a different number, 866-852-2187. Nice lady, actually. I owed over $850 and she offered me a $500 settlement and even set me up on payments of just $75 a month. They agreed to delete it off my credit report (which I didn't believe) but I pulled my credit report last month and it was gone. Not all the collectors out there are bad guys I guess.

- kygrandma replies to BamBam1975| 3 repliesplease do not pay these people. go to budhibbs.com and read about these debt buyers.
- tried that replies to kygrandma| 2 repliesI was reading the Bud Hibbs board for months and tried using all of his tactics to deal with my collectors. I was fired after four garnishments were put against my paycheck from debt buyers and people that I told to buzz off. I followed Bud's advice and requested validation, reported their collection attempts to the FTC. None of it did anything to stop me from getting garnishments until my job finally fired me. I think it is easy for Bud to put everyone at jeopardy telling them not to pay their bills and the debt buyers can't do anything, because he doesn't actually do anything to help. He just gives free bad advice. I emailed him several times for help while I was being sued and he just gave me a list of attorneys that I would have to call and pay to defend me. How ridiculous.
- Here it isTo the above list, you need to fight harder. Just because you request validation, doesn't mean a collector is going to give it to you. Honestly, if they had it then it wouldn't be a problem. They avoid validation, because they don't have it. It's easier for them to file suit against you, so that they can scare you into paying. Here's the thing, they ignored your validation, but they can't ignore it if you have Discovery and you have a court order that they answer it. Eventually, they will either have to answer the Discovery or the case gets dismissed. Despite what they think, you do have rights in court. Keep a paper trail on them, that way you have a good Federal Suit against them if you need one. Right now, they are breaking the law every which way, and posting stuff up above. I don't know if they think we are stupid or what, but you can always tell when a collector posts stuff.
By the way Bud Hibbs isn't necessarily telling you to NOT pay your bills. The purpose of validation is to make sure that the collector is doing the following:
1. Collecting on the right debt with the right person.
2. Has a legal right to be collecting on this debt.
3. Collecting on the correct amount.
So yes Bud Hibbs is correct. Validate with them. If you owe a debt and want to pay, then make sure it's your debt and you aren't paying more than what you are supposed to. That's why you validate. No it doesn't stop them from suing, but you have to learn to stand up for yourself and let them know they still have to follow the law and validate with you. Either in court or out of court.
It would be helpful for you to brush up on the laws. You are better at fighting back if you are educated on the current laws. Also, talk to a consumer attorney. Many of them will take you on contingency.
Don't be afraid. It's time we fight back and let these idiots know they are not above the law. - Seriously? replies to XxXxX ManThis is complete bull. You are obviously part of the scam, and I hope you have trouble sleeping at night because you are an annoying, likely self-loathing, pathetic human being. Get a real job.
- Report ThemIf you can't get them to stop calling, report them to the FTC and your Attorney General's Office and possible their Attorney General's Office, if you know which state they reside in.
Above all else, make sure you are saving messages if they leave one on your voicemail.
If we all bandwagon together and start reporting their actions, then more likely they will get into trouble and possibly shut down. - SamIt sounds like a phishing scam to me. They call several times a day and ask for payment or personal information without identifying themselves. I have never owed any debt and I've used my credit report to verify that no one stole my identity. Don't give them any information. They call from this number and from 1-866-816-3801. If they are harressing you, report them to ic3-dot-gov.
- Pamharassing calls two to three times a day.
- DendurI have been called by them three times today on my cell phone. I answered two of the calls, but there was noone there. That usually means they are robo-calls and if one waits for a short while, someone answers. I ALWAYS hang up when I get one of these calls. Also, I usually don't answer unidentified calls on my cell phone, but I thought it might be a call I am expecting from a car shipping broker. I will not answer it in the future.

- DonI received a call from them for a US Bank debt that I settled back in 2006. They asked me to send them paperwork. I refused because the call came almost 3 years later. I think it's a scam.

- lamet replies to tried thatthey cannot get garnishments without going to court and only IF YOU were not served or did not show up for court.
If you were never served - you could have stopped the garnishments based on that. Collection agencies can and do falsify service papers and never serve you..
If you did not bother to show for court - they got a default judgement... - derekI got a call from this number as well, same Karen or Rob Parker. Googled the number and found a bunch of sites with people posting their experiences with these calls. On almost every site, there was one or two postings saying these are real creditors and they're really nice and understanding... blah blah blah... In my opinion, they seemed like a fake postings. Maybe by the "company" themselves?? They didn't even say a company name!! On a few sites the posting said the same exact things!! Just seems a little fishy to me. Google the number and read all the differnet sites postings.

- meggso, i'm basically a highschooler without a credit card. a weird number called me (1-866-847-4539) and i answered because i always answer all of my calls. no one said anything after i said "hi", though, so that had me confused. it's obviously a scam; i'm not even old enough to have a credit score, and they were calling!
- wlflvr1969called. dont answer calls i dont know

- Sean BThis is a SCAM! Don't believe a single word of what some "experiences" have been said. This is just another scam to get you away from your money!
- irritated receptionist| 1 replyI get calls from this number for an extension that is not inuse. Probably someone who worked here before I started several years ago. They've called twice already this morning and will call two more times after that this afternoon. It's been going on for at least a week now. I will be forwarding to this our legal department for further action.
- Caller: Regent Asset Management
- Melissa| 1 replyThey call the same time every day. 2:23 PM and then again at 4:49 PM. I answer the phone, they hang up, wash and repeat.
I finally got fed up with it, called them back. They didn't even seem to know what was going on. There is no reason for them to ever have needed my number considering that I have never even been late on a single payment for anything.- Call type: Debt collector
