- OGZThis is a place of business that I received a phone call from this number. I don't know how they found this number.
- Caller: Capital One
- StellaIt is Capital One Direct Banking (not credit card division). If you went online to set up a CD, Money market, or an Online savings account, they are trying to reach you to help you with the application, or give you the rest of the account information that you may not have receive online.
- Caller: Capital One Direct Banking
- Beware of caller fraudThe caller left me a message and said it was a courtesy call from Capital One Direct Banking. I call back and the caller asked me to verify my date of birth and last 4 SSN. I gave the caller my information then realize that I should not gave my information out. Banks do not call for courtesy. Definitely a FRAUD.
- JuliaI opened up an online savings account through capital one and was contacted by this number. I called back and they made me verify my name, birth date and last four of my SS, but it was legit because they set up my online banking for capital one while I was on the phone. Besides, I don't think anyone can do anything with only the last 4 digits of your SS....
- Caller: Capital One
- AnnoyedThis is not Capital One. It is a scam! Do not give them your info.
- Caller: Capital One
- Another Annoyed IndividualIt's a SCAM and it is probably out of Africa. For some reason or another they seem to have the monopoly on scam artess. I think it is talk in school.
- Caller: CapitolOne
- Another Annoyed Individualoopppssss! TAUGHT IN SCHOOL
- CathyI received a phone message from this number. What I do - and did - was call the Capital One number I have from my Cap.1 paperwork. I know that number is legit. Turns out, they had a record of the original call and this number is for Capital One.
- DerekThis is Capital One Direct Banking. They give you your account information when you open a new money market account (like i did). They set up my online banking and ansswered my bank questions so I knew it was legit. They asked for name, dob, and ssn and I asked why and they said federal regulators require bank's to verify this information before giving out specific customer information (like account numbers). Made sense to me.
- Caller: Capital One
- marcThis is capital one banking. I signed up for a capital one checking account earlier in the day and they were calling me to verify some information. Legit call.
- Caller: capital one banking
- PattiThis is legit. They had left a message. I had opened an online banking account with Capital One but was hesitant when they asked my information when I called back. I did not give my information. I called the contact number on my application confirmation and they confirmed that they had called to confirm that I was the one who opened the account and was available to answer any questions.
- Caller: Capital One
- RelievedI had a message from this number. I was skeptical so I called Capital One from the number on their website. They confirmed that the number is legit for their account verification department for new accounts setup online.
- Caller: Capital One Direct Banking
- ABYes, it's legitimate, but I called Capital One's customer service number first to verify. The problem is that the caller (Edwin) refuses to even indicate why he is calling before asking for personal information, so it smacks of a scam. The ironic thing in my case is that the only reason for the call was to find out if I was satisfied with my new online account! What a way to do it!
- FraudHammerThe caller left me a message and said it was a courtesy call from Capital One Direct Banking. I call back and the caller asked me to verify my date of birth and last 4 SSN. I gave the caller my information then realize that I should not gave my information out. Banks do not call for courtesy. Definitely a FRAUD. Note the shill postings claiming the call is real - a dead giveaway.
- Caller: Bogus Capitol One Fraud
- AndyI did open an acct with them last week and they called to confirm and also give me my acct and routing #. I was not willing to give them my last 4 ssn, but they didn't ask (their mistake I would say) but would have been stalemate, me not giving it and they not proceeding without it.
Was a legit call, very corteous. Still, even if it is legit, don't give your last 4 SSN doing so is really dumb. Do the verifications with a lot of other questions.
Also, remember, my call was legit but it is very easy to fake a caller id number, so even if you get a call from this #, be suspicious. Always be suspicious of legit numbers.- Caller: Capital One bank
