A firm using the name Inpatient Consultants of Texas called my home number several times leaving messages and requesting a call back to this number.  They do not state the purpose or who they are calling.  The message leaves an 18 digit reference to use on the return call. I called the number two times during the hours they gave an all I got was a recording saying leave my number and the referecne number and they will call me back. So I left the same message to them with their refernce number and my phone number.

This is an organization, if you can call them that, that has many 866 numbers.  They call you via an electronic voice system to call back.  When you do, you speak with no one as stated above.  The whole purpose here is to verify that you are still at the number they called with Account # in-hand.  Then the medical provider will get back in touch with you.  For the most part, these calls are for claims that are very old - two to five years old.  Most times they are a hoax.  Call your insurance company and/or medical provider.  Do not call this number back.  In fact, do not call any number back where you are listening to an automated voice that does not identify whom they are representing or who they are calling by name.

I got the same thing.  I found out mine was from a firm called "IPC" Hospitalist Company.  It was for a very old claim that they still hadn't billed my insurance company for!  Very suspicious stuff.

Same thing. Called Saturday 2/9/08, left an automated, "This is Inpatient Consultants of Illinois with a message for ..." then silence for a second--they didn't actually say my name--then they left a number to call with an 18-digit account number. I had been in the hospital recently so I called back today (even though they called me on Saturday, I was told I could call only Monday through Friday) after being left on hold for a few minutes I got a recording saying to leave my name, phone number and reference number. I did and no one has called back. I won't be calling them again. I've never received anything in the mail from these people.

I had a similar call as described by others above about 3 months after a hospital stay.  I want to thank those who put these comments up because I did a search for "IPC of Arizona" based on just the phone number they left.  My curiosity is how do they access these records.  The two "Physicians" listed have not ever appeared on any official bills I've received from the hospital, so that was suspicious right away.  Again, thank you.  They're not getting $85 from me.

I have had at least 3 calls from "IPC of Arizona" and one "bill" in the mail for $85.  Only once have they actually said they are calling for me and this one came on Saturday (12/6/08).  Based on other people's comments, I'm planning to report them to the phone company for harrassment since the "doctors" stated in the printed bill are not any that appear on my insurance company's records.

Call from 8668534957 claim to be good samaritan hospital from shiva williamson and wants me to call back or something. When I call 866-853-4950 automate answering answer the phone. Its been like this about year and I am getting tire of this BS.

I also recived a call that wanted me to call 1-866-853-4950..it's an automated voice recording. my insurance pays for everything.. i was wondering what this was..i have no clue what this could be is this someone that is just trying to get money out of you that isn't real or does anyone know

They called me claiming to be with the "Account services department at UCSF medical center"  Same robocall, no personal detail given.

It has to be some kind of phone spammer checking valid phone numbers.  Don't call it back!!!

I get a all from 8668534950 and a ref # to call back. After looking here, I am not calling anyone back. They don't say who they are and when i tried to call them once, they seem to be busy dial tone.

I received a call from this phone number.  When I try to call them back they want me to leave a message and requesting me to use the long reference number.  I don't like this and will not give anyone personal information.

This year I have received about a dozen automated voicemail messages from this number. Each message leaves a reference number for me to use when I call them back. I hesitated calling them and never will thanks to the comments I have seen on line. Thanks to you all!

I got the same message, from UCSF Medical Center.  I accidentally called them back.  Man!

I received a bill from the Inpatient Consultants of IL which appears to be fraudulent for $72.

We received 2 phone calls from this number. The recorded message on our voicemail said they are from Patient Financial Services Department for Illusion Medical Center. The rest is the same as what others have posted here. Thanks! We are are calling them back.

After reading all the comments above, I'm confused as to who exactly, this number belongs to. This number now claims to be from Northwestern Medical ?something?. Now, my new doctors are part of Northwestern Healthcare, and I did have surgery not too long ago, but I've only just begun receiving bills from them after having them submitted to my insurance, so if this is a collection service for the hospital and its doctors, they need to get a grip. I'm in the process of paying them, and they need to learn patience. I am not someone who is easily intimidated, so them calling me isn't going to make me pay them any faster. In fact, quite the opposite.
