FRAUD EMAIL ADDRESS: LISA HEARN support@dhlar.com- Caller: DHL (DHLAR.com)
- Call type: Debt collector
- Tim| 7 repliesZ - You're a moron.
This is not a scam. It's collections for DHL, probably for an incoming international shipment. You have to pay duties and taxes on incoming international shipments.- Caller: DHL Express
- Call type: Debt collector
- Phiser replies to TimI received a call from this number asking for payment on a shipment. According to them, the credit card used refused to authorize and I owe them the cost of shipping plus late charges and collector's fees. When I called to verify, the could not tell me the type of card used or the last 4 digits of the card.
- they're not DHL, duh. replies to Tim| 2 repliesThis IS A SCAM; it's not legitimate collections. The target of the scam gets a robo-call with a "tracking number" to reference, and is asked to call back tomorrow monday-friday, 9-5. When I called, these yahoos tried to tell me that they were calling because "dhl" paid customs duties on my behalf and they wanted to collect.
I phoned Actual, Factual DHL through the number on their regular website. They confirmed that DHL does NOT pay customs duties on behalf of shipping recipients and then start collections calls. This would be stupid; no delivery company pays duties on behalf of customers. Even if a package got held at customs awaiting duties, DHL doesn't care; they've already got their payment from the shipper anyway.
Real DHL customer service also confirmed that the 800 number the scammers called me from is NOT a phone number owned by DHL. They forwarded the whole thing to their fraud department.
I called and spoke with a "representative" who passed me a support email address at a domain OTHER than dhl.com. I looked up their fake domain "dhlar.com." It's not owned by DHL, and it's not even registered by the same registrar that DHL used for actual dhl.com. - anonymous replies to they're not DHL, duh.Tim is likely a shill for this scam. Thanks for your clear explanation.
- JohnI do have a due customs invoice from DHL, so I really don't think this is a scam.
(I just mailed a check last week)
I get an international shipment about every two months and then DHL sends me a customs duty bill. If you fail to pay by the due date, they will start calling you.
I got a couple of calls last week from non 800 numbers stating they were from DHL and they referenced everything correctly. The call from 866-864-2707 seems to be an automated call.- Call type: Debt collector
- Sober replies to they're not DHL, duh. What ya smoking? Pass some this way.
Very stupid comment.
That's exactly how UPS, FedEx, DHL work. They pay customs duties and then send you the bill. If you don't pay they'll start collections. If eventually they cannot collect duties from the recipient, they will try to collect from the sender and the sender will curse your mother 'cause you're a dumb deadbeat. - DHL Employee| 1 replyI am a DHL employee right here in the US of A, and assure you this is not fraud. If in doubt, please give a call at 1-800-CALL-DHL, thats 1-800-225-5345, and ask to speak with the billing department. This 866-864-2707 number belongs to a collections center we employ in NC to collect on past due duties and tax invoices for us, but if you prefer to pay it with DHL directly, we would love to speak with you! :) If you doubt anything I'm saying, go to dhl.com and select United States, all our contact phone numbers are listed on our website. As for paying duty/tax on a customers behalf, thats how all express shipping carriers do it! Call any one of them, UPS, Fedex, DHL, they will call tell you the same thing, we act as your broker and clear it thru customs for you, "clearing" means paying because Customs and Border Patrol wont exactly just give it to us on good faith, we have to pay first, then we deliver to you and collect the money. Again, if you doubt what i say, UPS can be reached at 1-800-PICK-UPS and Fedex can be reached at 1-800-GO-FEDEX.....also the direct dial for our billing department is 1-800-722-0081 if you dont want to go thru our automated system...

- LORI replies to TimTHIS IS A SCAM. 100% positive about this too. DHL told me that they never call to collect. Someone found my info by hacking the DHL website, or their trash can at the location I went to. I had to warn my friend not to respond to any calls as well because I was sure that they would try and say that I never paid for shipping, so she would have to.
TOTAL SCAM! - Withheld5/7/2012 8:55 AM. Stop with the calls to my cell phone. I have never used DHL in my life, and I do not wish to pay somebody else bill. These scam people will hear from my attorney next; and, he is a barracuda when it comes to going after "scam" artists. Telephone #866-864-2707 shows "Withheld" on caller ID.
- Caller: 866-864-2707 "Withheld"
- MountainJames replies to Z.I was suspicious of the call, so I went to the DHL website for the phone number.
http://www.dhl-usa.com/en/contact_center.html
DHL checked my records, and I didn't owe custom duties--because there were none. If there were any charges, DHL would have charged the receiver or billed the issuer in writing--they don't call.
Apparently, the SCAM phished the reference number from a DHL confirmation email to make it look legitimate.
THIS IS DEFINITELY A SCAM!!! DO NOT CALL THAT NUMBER, NOR GIVE PERSONAL INFORMATION. - outinleft replies to TimTim - I rarely recommend calling people morons, especially when the caller is dead wrong. This is a scammer, not DHL calling. I have had personal experience with them.
- outinleft replies to DHL EmployeeI don't believe for a moment that you are a DHL employee, because I have called DHL about receiving calls from this number & DHL tells me it is NOT DHL calling, just a scam.
- D'oh! You Almost Got MeTotal, total, total scam.
When you dial their call back number, sometimes you go straight to a voicemail box saying their assisting other customers. Not how a major company is structured.
Additionally, as several other people have stated, shipping companies do not pay your invoices for you and then attempt to collect via their collections department.
Seriously - total scam. Avoid and don't give out any personal information. - GateKeeperGot a call today- comes up as "Unknown Number" and guy with heavy forein accent asks for a co-worker- I ask him who he was, where he was calling from and what this was regarding. He gives me some name I can't understand and claims he is calling from "DHL" regarding "a package"
Really?? "A package" that is your answer??? so I ask "ok...a package to BE delivered, to HAVE delivered??" [***] seriously??
So he tells me and then I ask for a tracking number.
Put ScamBoy on Hold, and went to DHL while calling co-worker. Co Worker has no clue, and Tracking Number- lo and behold DOESN'T EXIST!!!!!
In the time he was on Hold, he hung up, not even giving me time to transfer the call even if it HAD ben legit. Really kind of hoping he calls back again
These people NEED TO BE FINED. Scum of the EARTH~!!- Caller: "DHL" they claim
- Diane LockettI received a text message, as well as a voice message from 855-434-5345, claiming to be from DHL, saying I had to pay $118 in taxes and duties. I tracking number was provided in the messages. I went to the web site & entered the tracking number. It was for a package originating from Hong Kong.
I believe this must be some kind of fraud. I haven't ordered anything.- Caller: DHL
- Call type: Debt collector
- RetiredSo - I got the call saying I owed $359.43, and then a "Statement of Account" arrives in the mail. I was thinking of writing back to ask for copies of the invoices, but then I saw this message. The Statement says to remit to DHL Global Forwarding at 14076 Collections Center Drive, Chicago IL 60693. How would they receive my check since Google Maps does not show any address that it could be delivered to?
- Caller: DHL (doubtful)
- Call type: Debt collector
