- Mamabucks| 17 repliesThese guys - whoever they are - have begun to access my checking account for $40.00 monthly. Have reported it as fraud, but BOA can't do anything about returning the $160.00 they've taken from us!
- Caller: SmartStep
- kill telemarketers| 1 replycontact the police, BOA should and will refund your money.
- Bernice Latour| 1 replyHave no idea who these people are. They have taken $60 from my BOA account.
- mI got a call from this number and it is a bank holiday so I have not been able to contact BOA to report it. I am afraid I will have money missing by tomorrow... guess I just have to wait and see. I was suspicious of the call from the beginning and wonder if they have enough info to get money or not. Never gave them my SS# or bank information, but who knows what they can get with the info they already had.
- Caller: Intersection Insurance Services
- Call type: Unwanted
- MAD| 2 repliesDont have a clue who Smart Step is, or the # they listed on the account info when they automatically withdrew $40.00 from my account! I look up the number and this is what I find...other people with this same problem! I wonder if it just affects BofA customers, because this is who I have as well, and all of these complaints are from BofA customers.
- Caller: Smart Steps/ Charter Marketing Services
- arturofucaSaid something about insurance and now taking 20 dlls of my acount monthly.
- BGeorgeWhen we called this number, a person answered the phone claiming to be a Bank of America representative asking for our info. That's alarming. We've called BOA customer service enough to know that this was not BOA. In the process of reporting it.
- Caller: Smart Step
- MarcelaNever received a phone call from them but they withdrew 40 dollars from my account. Calling the number in hte evening, there was only an anwering message saying that they are Charter Marketing. The debit was listed as an ACH debit.
- dchaff replies to Mamabucks| 4 repliesThese guys had someone selling life insurance by phone that had a 2 month free period and then they started dinging your account $20 automatically if you forgot to cancel the policy. You have to call the number and wait on hold until someone answers; they will cancel the policy and notify the bank. You will have to contact the bank to have the charges reversed. It's a royal pain but they probably stay just on the legal side of the line.
- jc| 1 replyDon't have a clue who Smart Step is, we screen our calls and never received a phone call from them when they automatically withdrew $20.00 from my BOA account! I look up the number A LOT of other people are having the same problem! I also called the number and there was a recording, there phone service is down due to weather the recording said they are sorry for the Inconvenience, in other words they are sorry for taking your identity and your money without your permission HA HA HA.. We blocked the BOA account number so no one else can take out.

- djsarahthese crooks called and asked if they could send a insurance package free of charge. I refused. Before I knew it they were taking 20.00 a month out of my checking account from BOA. How are they accessing my account? and it only seems like its from BOA. Someone is giving out personal information and both parties need to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
- Caller: charter marketing services

- Alicia O replies to MamabucksIf anyone knows how to get the money back from Bank of America and Smart Step. My father who is aging and not in his right mind 1/2 the time verbally ok'd this over the phone (he is not even that coherent on the taped conversation with the salesperson). My mom discovered they were paying for this months later and is trying to get the money back. They never signed anything. They are definitely taking advantage of the elderly.
Please email me if you have advice. aliciaochs@msn.com - yetanothervictimI didn't even get a phone call! Just the surprising withdrawal on 1/07/08. I'm going to BOA tomorrow to get the account blocked. It sounds like no one gets the money back. I may just have to go to another bank. This is unacceptable.
