    There is no name of a company. When I called back there was just a name of the person on a voice mail and to say why I was calling.

    It is a bill collection agency: Calvary or something like that. They were calling my house for someone else, so I called them back and they said they would take out my number.

    I called this number and the person answered Calvery and I specifically requested what type of company they were and did not get an answer. Instead she looked up my number and gave me my daughters name as well as mine.  Requested to verify address and I told them I would not verify anything.

    Anyone can "look up" your name - and phone number - by using Google.  It DOES NOT MEAN they 'have a file' on you.  For instance, Intellius is a service that will  LIST RELATIVES of people - for free - for people who have their Name and phone number listed, EVEN IF they do not have their address listed.  (I know because i googled myself and found this info easily)  Check out your own name on www.addresses.com and see.

    I allow my phone number to be published in our phone book ($25/year to have it unlisted) BUT I took my address "out" of the listed.  However, unfortunately, when anyone Googles me, they can find my address because it was published for years before I removed it, and I haven't moved or changed my phone number since.

    So, DON'T be intimidated by whatever "information" they say they have on you.  It DOESN'T mean you've done anything wrong OR owe them any money.

    BTW, I'm on this site now because I just got this call, too.  Let it go to ans. mach. and no message left.

    BTW, We just cancelled a roofing contract with Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems.  They have another 866 number as well.  I'm wondering if they 'bug' people after a cancellation.  There aren't that many complaints here, so it indicates to me that these are very 'selective' calls and not the mass inundations of most of the scammers.

    Anyone else on this site have a former or current business relationship with Interlock?????

    I had the same thing happen this morning - actually this was the third call of this type this morning.  I called them back and she also said they were looking for someone I had never heard of.  I told them if they continued to call I would turn it over to my lawyer.  It is interesting that they are calling for someone we had never heard of SINCE WE'VE HAD THIS NUMBER FOR 30 YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    HARASSED BY INTERLOCK
    We have been getting calls from various numbers since we LEGALLY CANCELLED a roofing contract with an INTERNATIONALLY INFAMOUS SCAM ROOFING COMPANY called ***INTERLOCK ROOFING***.  THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS and LAWSUITS AGAINST THEM on the Internet; Just "google' their name and you will see.  This Company is COMPLETELY BANNED in HAWAII!!!  We OWE them NOTHING; and, in fact, ***THEY OWE US*** our DOWNPAYMENT CHECK BACK, but so far (THREE WEEKS) they have FAILED TO COMPLY.  NOW we are gettting HARASSMENT CALLS on the TWO NUMBERS we used in dealing with them *INCLUDING* my Pay-ahead CELL PHONE that is NOT TIED TO ANY CREDIT ACCOUNTS WHATSOEVER, Including Interlock - but I used it to call them, so now they 'have' that number.  These BOGUS "Collection" CALLS ONLY STARTED ***AFTER*** our dealings with these SCUMBAGS, INTERLOCK.

    They are using CAVALRY PORTFOLIO SERVICES as their Pit Bull **BOGUS** Collection agency.

    We are going to have to get an attorney and SUE INTERLOCK and CAVALRY.

    **********BEWARE INTERLOCK ROOFING - They are INTERNATIONAL CRIMINALS!!!!!*************

    Debt collector calling for my daughter who no longer lives with us.
    Cavalry asked if we had her cell phone number and I told them "yes, but we require a fee of $100 before we release that information".  Cavalry soon hung-up.

    You do:

    Send them this letter VIA certified mail with return receipt requested demanding they either validate the debt they are harassing you about or stop calling:

    Today's Date

    Your Name
    Your Address

    Collector's Name
    Collector's Address

    VIA CERTIFIED MAIL

    Dear {insert name of collector or company},

    I am writing in response to your (letter or phone call) dated {insert date}, (copy enclosed) because I do not believe I owe what you say I owe.

    This is the first I've heard from you, or any other company on this matter therefore, in accordance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Section 809(b): Validating Debts:

    (b) If the consumer notifies the debt collector in writing within the thirty-day period described in subsection (a) that the debt, or any portion thereof, is disputed, or that the consumer requests the name and address of the original creditor, the debt collector shall cease collection of the debt, or any disputed portion thereof, until the debt collector obtains verification of the debt or any copy of a judgment, or the name and address of the original creditor, and a copy of such verification or judgment, or name and address of the original creditor, is mailed to the consumer by the debt collector.

    I respectfully request that you provide me with the following information:

    (1) the amount of the debt;
    (2) the name of the creditor to whom the debt is owed;
    (3) Provide a verification or copy of any judgment (if applicable);
    (4) Proof that you are licensed to collect debts in (insert name of your state)
    Be advised that I am fully aware of my rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act. For instance, I know that:

    Because I have disputed this debt in writing within 30 days of receipt of your dunning notice, you must obtain verification of the debt or a copy of the judgment against me and mail these items to me at your expense.

    You cannot add interest or fees except those allowed by the original contract or state law.
    you do not have to respond to this dispute but if you do, any attempt to collect this debt without validating it, violates the FDCPA.

    Also be advised that I am keeping very accurate records of all correspondence from you and your company including recording all phone calls and I will not hesitate to report violations of the law to my State Attorney General, the Federal Trade Commission and the Better Business Bureau.

    I have disputed this debt; therefore, until validated you know your information concerning this debt is inaccurate. Thus, if you have already reported this debt to any credit-reporting agency (CRA) or Credit Bureau (CB) then, you must immediately inform them of my dispute with this debt. Reporting information that you know to be inaccurate or failing to report information correctly violates the Fair Credit Reporting Act § 1681s-2. Should you pursue a judgment without validating this debt, I will inform the judge and request the case be dismissed based on your failure to comply with the FDCPA.

    Finally, if you do not own this debt, I demand that you immediately send a copy of this dispute letter to the original creditor so they are also aware of my dispute with this debt.

    The solution I've found is to forward the number to another number of some other outfit that I've found makes unwanted calls.

    If you have SELECTIVE call forwarding on your phone service (not the forwarding option for your own phone), forward this # to some other # and you're done hearing from it.

    I'd like to be a fly on the wall when pesky caller #1 gets a forwarded call from pesky caller #2.  I wonder what they chat about, but I'll bet they're not saying nice things about ME!

    Try it!
