Received first call on 5/3 at 1:47, left no voice mail. Second call on 5/4 at 2:33pm, left a voice mail.  "Good afternoon, this is Dina for (car owner) requesting your participation in a research study in the City of Coppell, Texas, regarding the 2010 Volvo XC60.  The manufacturers are seeking your opinion and your feedback on current and future vehicle concepts and designs.  It's going on today until 8pm tonight, so there's plenty of time to participate.  You will receive $125.00 compensation for your time and opinion.  If you'd like to participate call 1-800-736-7970."

This is a legitimate company called Research Design.  They are a marketing company for auto manufacturers. They usually first send you a letter asking if you are interested in participating in a 1, 2 or 3 hour paid discussion and/or opinion and look at future models and makes of different vehicles. If they don't fill up, they then resort to making telephone calls.  Both my son and husband have attended the research/discussion panels and found it interesting.  They have been paid on the spot, anywhere from $125 to $350 for taking part.

    Mislead & no paid survey

This company ("Research Design Specialists" 1-866-883-0728) may be legit, but they operated in a misleading manner in my case. So before you call them back, READ THIS. I filled out and returned an auto survey from them, re: my preferences for certain vehicle types, features, etc. along with certain demographic info. A few weeks later I rec'd a phone message from this number to participate in an in-person research study for which I would receive $150, and to call them back and they would schedule me (even listing specific days that I could attend).  This message made it sound like I had already been chosen for an actual in-person paid survey so all I had to do was call them back and schedule the date.

Anyway, called them back, and instead of scheduling me for one of the dates they had previously mentioned, they said they had to survey me over the phone first for about 10-15 minutes (which from what I recall were many of the same questions I had filled out in the written survey) before scheduling me for the in-person, paid survey.  After answering the questions, the phone rep put me on hold, came back a couple of minutes later and said the slots had already been filled from people/respondents in my category!  So this was a total waste of time on my part, they got info from me, but they gave zip in return, despite the clear impression they had give to me in their messages before I called them back.  SO if you want to participate and get a few bucks by participating in one of their surveys, good luck, but I would demand that you get a  guarantee to get paid from them first before wasting your time (if you can even get and receive a worthwhile guarantee).

This number is on nomo's sheet list.  Call came once.  I'd never do a survey with these idiots.  Such maroons.

FYI The free call blocker has this number on its black list and RDF knows it.  If their number is blocked, they immediately call again and for me they used a spoofed number 6083716666, which just happens to be the phone number for the free call blocker that is used for reporting calls that need to be blocked.  In my opinion, they have no business ethics at all.  I happen to know where their office is so I might just go over there and give them a piece of my mind if they call again, after I repeated told them to stuff it.  I have reported this spoofing incidence to the FCC, the BBB, and Yelp, and twitter.  At least that should help get the word out.

Yeah I've had the same experience about a year ago.   I answered some questions but the guy was pretty honest in telling me (in a nice way) I was too old... Apparently they wanted younger people for their survey (I'm in my 40's).  I felt kind of crappy (old) but at least the dude was pretty up front.  Usually they are not and just say "...the slots have been filled....."   I just got a new message from them on my cell.   Maybe I'll give in another try.   A hundred bucks is a hundred bucks.   It's worth the short drive and few hours of car questions for me if I walk away with $100.

Actually did the survey and got paid $100 bucks.   Down side was it took me a little over 3 hours and I was hoping for  it to only be a couple hours.   My brain was fried and back hurt because most of it is evaluating car concepts while standing up in a warehouse... but I did have my hundred dollars.   Now they are calling back for follow-up questions. Not sure if I'll call them back,,,,

Yes I know its all true.  First you looked up a number even though you knew who called you just to come to complaint web site to post how wonderful they are.  Now you come back after claiming you were too old telling us you got your hundred anyway.  Next you will be telling me that you have ocean front property in Arizona to sell me and expect me to believe it.

Got a call from them asking me if I'd like to make $100 and be part of a survey. "Sure, why the hell not?". I go to this warehouse, they have a bunch of cars, and basically I spent two hours rating them all. At the end I got a check for $100.00. They keep calling me, and I'd totally go and do another survey, but they're always on week days and with very little notice. But if you need some spare cash, definitely follow up.
