- jo| 4 repliesI have been receiving calls constantly on home phone and cell phone at the same time. Solomon would NOT tell me who they were or what they wanted. When I told them that this phone was for emergencies only, he said that maybe this was an emergency. I said unless this pertains to my children it was NOT an emergency. When asked how to contact me I told them through the mail. SOLOMON got very nasty and asked if i lived in the stone age, said they would GET ME and hung up.
- jo replies to jo| 2 repliesthis number belongs to:
Global Credit & Collection Corp
300 International Drive Suite 100
Williamsville, NY 14221
They are a collection agency for Capital One - billy yeen| 3 repliesI received a few calls from this number for days. I finally called it back. The people there were ok. They treated me with respect, applogised for calling my number in error, and removed my number. They have not called since.
Remember, they are simply trying to locate someone. We all have to earn a living. Instead of putting up with constant calls, just tell them the number is wrong and the calls will stop.
Let's not overcomplicate this. I think you people are conspiracy theorists and have way too much time on your hands!- Caller: global
- payemoff| 3 repliesHere's what you should do. Call the credit company that you're behind in payments and attempt to set up a repayment plan, if they've turned it over to collections you then be connected and they will work with you to not only stop the calls, but help pay down and/or off the debt. This will stop the calls!
- Mark W replies to billy yeen| 1 replyI work at home and they called my home and work lines simultaneously. I answered the work line, but instead of getting a persion, I got the robot demanding that I calls some mystery number - meanwhile the home phone recorded their call on the its answering machine.
If they're legit, they should leave their name, and have a real person at the ready should a live person actually answer the phone. With all the scams out there, calling some mystery number can leave unexpected charges on your phone bill, so I want to know whom I'm calling.
If this is indeed a collection agency for Capital One, and they're being inappopriately obnoxious, drop a note to the head of Capital One. After all, they are responsible for the conduct of those with whom they contract with to do business.
This isn't about their earning a living. There are consumer identification services available that they can use to track folks down more precisely than merely calling folks with the same name. My time is worth something, whether I'm at work or not. They've got no business wasting it. - Mark W replies to payemoff| 2 repliesYou're assuming that they're calling the right person. I don't have any debt, I've never been behind on debt, I've never done business with Capital One, and there's no evidence that my ID's been stolen.
- Ask for agreement in writing!!| 2 repliesThese people have also been harrassing me constantly via the calling robot. I finally got a live person and tried to make an arrangement with them. They insisted I send them several pre-dated checks. I reminded them that was illegal for them to request the pre-dating of checks. He backed right off and offered me a payment plan knocking off a whole $100 of the interest (Oooooo). I told him I thought he could do alot better since then had been pounding me with a $39 late fee AND a $39 over limit fee every month in addition to the 29% interest! He would not budge. I asked to speak with a manager and got several hundred off. However, when I asked for the agreement in writing, and asked them to fax a copy to me, they refused??? I told them I wouldn't pay anything if I didn't get it in writing. They stated they would note in the file that I was uncooperative and refused to pay!!!

- Cringle10| 1 replyI am getting calls from this number looking for my wife's brother. There are only 2 ways they would have my number since it is my last name that is on the phone listing. My wife's brother would have to had to give our number to Capitol One at some point which is highly unlikely as we would have received a number of late payment calls prior to this one. Or Capitol One conducted a search of family members with the same last name as his and found my wife. Her maiden name only appears on our mortgage (which is not through Capitol One).

- Johnny| 1 replyThese people are idiots. I do not nor have I ever had an account with Capital One. They have been informed that they are calling the wrong number but continue to call.
I would like to "speak" with them in person!!!!!! - Jim replies to billy yeenbut here you are taking the time to explain why YOU harrass people. You want the debt cpllected? Guess what we want the debt paid! Badgering beyond the law because one cannot possibly afford to persue the matter (or else one would pay the debt to begin with) does not entitle any collector to take the RESPECT you called for out of the equation.
- LAW_vs_THEORY replies to Ask for agreement in writing!!| 1 replyLaw v. Theory here...
First off, I'm curious about your state. It is not illegal to ask for POST-DATED checks except where state law prohibits it. If I remember correctly, there are only two or three states that prohibit post-dated checks... I know for a fact that two of them are MASS & RHODE ISLAND. Just for the record, they are not required to knock down the cost of your debt. Actually, most businesses that hire debt collection agencies are looking (best-case scenario) for the debt to be collected in full. I know that when I hire a collections agency for my business, I set strict parameters as to how much they can settle for and what reasons are acceptable to offer a settlement to a debtor. As for getting the agreement in writing, they are not legally obligated to do that. What I never understood is why debtors seem to think that they have the right to hold a collections agency to a higher standard than themselves. You wouldn't be in the situation you're in if you just paid your bills to begin with. And if you couldn't pay your bills, you shouldn't have continued to charge things up on your non-existent credit, that you had no intention of paying back in full. And for the record, the last thing that you want to do is refuse to pay an agency. When you do that, they close your file & send it back to the creditor. We then have to go out and find another collections agency to take the case for us. The cycle continues. - LAW_vs_THEORY replies to Cringle10Many creditors (businesses) do their own skip-tracing to find all publicly accessible information pertaining to their debtors. We look for things in places that the common Joe wouldn't think to look. Then we submit that information along with the case to a collections agency. They're only calling on what we give them. Sometimes collections agencies do their own skip-tracing & they usually do a more thorough job.
- LAW_vs_THEORY replies to JohnnyAccidents happen Johnny. Ask them to search by your phone number (the one that they are calling) to make sure that your number is removed from all of the accounts that they hold that may have your number on them in error. My office number was on six accounts, all for different people that I never heard of. Hope that helps!
- MeladramosReceived robo-call from 866-915-5210 that left me on hold, then THEY disconnected the call. Called them back and asked what this was referring too, but would only speak to my wife. While I was getting my wife they disconnected the call again..WTF? Apparrently someone doesn't have time to take my money..thats a new one

- ShannonOkay, so I do actually have an unpaid account with Global Credit and whoever from a Capital One credit card I used to have.
If any of you are like me and also have an account with them, here's some info:
I made a pay-off deal with one of the reps in September and have been working my ass off to get them as much money as I can each month; they just started calling me again 4 days ago asking why I haven't begun to pay off my balance yet?
Luckily, I've been using my mom's credit card to pay it off each month (I just give her cash), so we have proof on each monthly statement that I have been paying it off.
Basically, KEEP YOUR STATEMENTS AND/OR RECEIPTS. If you are paying by check or money order, DEMAND A RECEIPT FOR EVERY ONE OF YOUR PAYMENTS. They can e-mail it to you or send it to you snail mail, doesn't really matter, but DO NOT back down on this or you could get screwed into the ground.- Caller: Global Credit and Collection Corp.

- Go back to law school... replies to LAW_vs_THEORY..you missed a class or two on contracts.
Only a complete fool would agree to any kind of settlement without getting the terms in writing. There's nothing more vague or nebulous (or difficult to enforce) than an oral contract. The reason these scam outfits try to resist getting pinned down is because they are typically operating outside of the law with their deceptive and abusive tactics therefore anything in writing is potential ammunition for the consumer.
These clowns really hate forums like this one because the knowledge and experience presented give "common Joe" (did you really write that?) the means to know and protect his rights. Kudos to 800notes and the many contributors! - PaulGot a phone call, no ID as to who (i.e. what company) was calling or whom the person or robot was calling. Just a mysterious "You have a private & confidential matter in this office that is still unresolved. Call 866-915-5210 and any one of our associates can help you." Well, since we're not in debt, and since I've gone to this excellent 800-numbers site before and found what other people have gone through from returning calls of this ilk, no way I'm going to call them back.
Look, Law vs. theory: if this were a legitimate collection agency, they would identify themselves and ask to speak to the person they're trying to collect a debt from. No one's arguing against a real collection agency trying to research a debt. But the purpose of the postings on this website is to help people realize which numbers are not legitimate. - AnonymCall constantly for a person...and I am not that person, nor have I ever heard of that person...Is never a human being, is always a prerecorded message. Even when I answer the call, its never a human!!! I've called back to report a wrong number and they tell me they'll remove the number. No such luck...have been getting these calls for over 4 months now!!!!!

- sahm2004 replies to joAnd on top of the nastyness and repeated calls they left a RUDE message on my machine to call them concerning my tax return. What a lie!!
- kamonbishopI just got this call today. The information I got here most likely is going to save me hundreds of dollars in debt to the agency. Im a college student and have no job. I'm working on studies and because I don't have an income I can't pay them. If they can work with me, then wonderful, but if they can't there's nothing I can do.
Atleast I can tell them to give me things in writing now :)
Thanks so much "pissedoff"
PS - they used a local number to contact me and said that they had some really important info for me. But seriously, i was kind of scared when they called because it was creepy that they used a local number.- Caller: Unknown
