These people are SCAMMERS! Please BEWARE!

They start by sending you a text from 866-925-4932 or 866-734-6243 saying they are the "Miami Dade Federal Credit Union" or "Dade County FCU" and that you must call them immediately regarding recent activity on your account, or that your ATM is "blocked" and you must call them to "unblock".

When you call, they ask for your card number. Knowing this was a scam, I entered any random string of numbers followed by the # sign. Then they ask for that card's expiration date...I again entered a fake date and hit the # key. Then they ask for your PIN...I entered fake numbers and again hit the # sign.

The automated recording then says to hold while they "verify" your account. When it (obviously!) can't be "verified", they ask you to try again, and run thru the whole process. They do this for 3 tries, then ask you to call their "Customer Service" available "24 hours a day".

Don't fall for this! Let's all report this scamming jerk and get him/them busted!

PS: Apparently it must be the same people using those two 866 numbers, but on the 866-925-4932 one, it is sent from "8669254932@banetele.no". That appears to be a Norwegian telephone/internet company, so I hope this might serve as helpful info in shutting these jerks down.

A company or person sent me a test message to call that number to reactivie my debit/credit card which was restricted.  When I called the # is was a recording that asks for the card #, expiration date, and PIN.  They are thinking people will give all that info out and then they can use it to steal from those people.  The text also mentions a company named "banetel.no"  This is not just a simple solicition, sales or collection type call.  This is a big scam and crime!

Didn't call but verified my account and checked the website for the number - but didn't find it. I got my text at 4:53 from a cell generated sender 3675

Got a text message on my cell. They say my Debit card is blocked. I dont have an account with Bay Bank. It is a scam.

Just got one on my husbands cell phone saying that is Finacial Credit Union Card has been blocked and that he needs to call the same number you all have listen..i know its a scam...and we don't even have an account with them....

we called and it says "thank you for calling Dave County Federal Credit Union, our records indicate your card has a restriction on it, please enter your card number in to remove it,.....then it asked for experation, and then pin, and then said it could not be processed and asked us to enter it in again two more times...then it says to call customer service and drops the call...

I just called VISA 911 and they closed the account and will reissue a new card in 2 days.

I asked VISA security if they wanted the scam number - they said they had no way to enter that info.  These dogs got me at the best time on text.  I was waiting for a charge to be debited and thought there was a real problem.

By me giving them the number and exp, they could charged all the way up to my balance....$60.10 :)

They texted me this...I don't even have a bank account with these guys!! So I emailed the bank and let them know... I also let them know that if there really was money in the account they can just... you know, hand it over...I really hope someone stops these guys... some people can be really... you know... I saw that 60 minute special!

thanks for the FYI! What can we do to stop these scammers? txt messages like these should be stopped as this is illegal... is there any law that prohibits 1-800 or 1-866 numbers to be used in this way?

same thing i received a text message to call them, i have sent a message back to remove my number, i called this number and it states the number has been disconnected.

I think what's happening here is they're texting us w/ names of valid local credit unions in whatever area we live in, to try to trick us to calling those numbers. Notice that those toll free numbers don't have any identifying information (they don't claim to be "so-and-so credit union"). These scammers are just trying to land and see where they'll get a hit, hoping one of us will be their sucker.

What can we do to shut them down?

I received a call from the same type of scammers. It only ready 444 on my caller ID. It was 11 at night so I know that it was not my bank sending an automated message. They asked me to call a number, of course I hung up. Man these people will stop at nothing! Please be careful!

I got a message from this too, it reads:

"8773945107@dcfcu.org()Dade County F.C.U(Card Blocked) Alert. For more information please call 1-877-394-5107. Thank you./"

I don't even have a bank account, lets put it like that. These are definitely scams.
