New number for a collection agency titled "Portfilio Recovery Associates" out of Verginia

Must be the same Portfolio Recovery as the phone rings at the same time every weeknight, now its just a new number. also 757-321-6278, & 877-803-0008.  I have a new wireless DECT 6 Panasonic that allows listing phones you want blocked. Rings once anyway, but then a busy signal is transmitted.

Looks like they have my cell number from some where.  called but did not leave a message

they don't leave a name of who they are trying to reach or why.  and if you call back...you can't find out.  has anyone ever resolved the reason they are calling.

This number called my home tonight and let it ring twice and hung up.  Didn't even have time to get to my phone!

Portfolio Recovery Associates.  Rarely, if ever, leave message.  Bottom feeding pond scum junk debt buyer.  Do not talk answer the phone, if you accidently do, give them NO information, if they have never sent you any information on the debt they are trying to collect, advise them they have 5 days to send you notice of the debt in writing, do not even them give them your address, ask them what they have on file. Send them a cease and desist contact letter immediately.

they keep calling but speak in Spanish...very annoying.

These people keep calling the office from (866) 940-7640. Most of the time, there's not anyone there.

Today, however, there was a woman on the other end of the line and asked for my boss. When I asked who she was, she gave a first name. When I asked what the name of the company she was with, she got belligerent. She started asking me who I was.

I repeated my question: "What is the name of your company?"

She replied, "Sir, are you in the habit of violating Federal Law? Because it's against Federal Law for me to tell you that."

"It's against Federal Law for you to tell me the name of your company?", I asked her.

"Yes."

"No - it's not against Federal Law to tell me the name of your company."

"I didn't say that, sir -"

"Yes, you did - I asked you the name of your company and you said it was against Federal Law for you to tell me."

"Well, it is!", she said.

"Then give me the statute number in Federal Law that states that it's against the law for you to tell me the name of your company.", I said.

"You can call your congressman for that.", she replied.

"No, I'm not going to call my congressman - you stated that it's against Federal Law for you to tell me the name of your company, I asked you to give me the statute number, and you didn't because you can't - because it's not against Federal Law for you to tell me the name of your company."

She began yelling at me, so I promptly hung up.

That's an awesome phone exchange.

They call my cell phone daily.  They always hang up.  They never leave a message.
I don't have any debts, and never has anything gone to a collection agency.  I'll bet this is a total scam.

The # (866) 940-7640 is from Portfolio Recovery Associates.  They are debt collectors.  I have no problem with legitimate debt collectors who obey the law...but this company tried to get me to divulge my credit card numbers, bank account numbers, and social security number.  They also are trying to collect a debt that I do not owe...the fact that I do not owe the debt is of no concern to them so it is they who are breaking the law, not me.

WTF? They called at 8pm on a freaking Sunday night. Left no message, nothing. I have never received anything  in the mail from them, don't know of any debts I owe. Whatever debts I did have were from a divorce 9 years ago and the statute of limitations in my state is 6 years. So be gone, you predatory junk debt buyers! I hope you lose your [***] in this economy! Wouldn't be employed by them if they were the last place on earth!

They called and used several numbers.I never answer.

This company buys lists of old debts that are expired. That is to say, they are beyond the statute of limitations. But they still hound you and try to bully people to pay. Of course most people can't even remember what is actual debt, and what might just be plain old false information.

Anyway, they are to be treated with the same methods you would treat anyone who calls you. They have no special powers or authority at all so do not answer their questions or otherwise talk to them.

Just send them a note and use reply mail so you get a note back that it was delivered (It's the best dollar you will ever spend):

calls all the time and never leaves a message for whom they are calling for ... I picked up one time and kept saying hello and no one answers  me, it is dead silence.  This is a form of harrassment .. I have also tried calling back to no prevail.

These [***] have continued to call, day after day, even after they have been contacted by our Lawyer to cease and desist.  So, I took the next step.  I put together a very explicit "sex sounds" audio on my computer from audio clips found on-line.  Believe me, this audio sounds so obscene it would make a sailor blush.  When these [***] from Portfolio Recovery call, I play this audio clip for them.  Now, instead of dreading their calls I look forward to the opportunity to play it for their nappy headed hoes.
