Got a call from this number saying I wrote a bad check in 2012. I didn't as I was in bankrupsy  and didn't have any checks. We just got out of bankrupsy and got this call wanting $350 or would take me to court and wanted me to pay $50 now.

A -client received a harassing call from 866-971-2193 claiming that they were taking them to court over unpaid debt. This  client had just filed bankruptcy and the claim was false as all debts were included in the bankruptcy filing. Our office called the collection company operating under the name of URG and spoke to "supervisor" Tonya Barns at ext 271. She would not provide my office with a mailing address or any company information to send a a cease calling letter and to lodge formal complaint for Consumer Federal Protection Bureau violations. They are either buying bad debt and illegally continuing to collect on it; or are sourcing publicly available bankruptcy records to prey on consumers.

I keep getting harrasing phone calls from this number at my job. They said it was over a bad check. I had written a bad check back in 2010 and had resolved it. Not only that the amount that was due is alot less than what they say I owe.

These people are calling my job and cell phone saying something about a bad check. I don't have a checking account. What can be done about this?

I have been called for the past two days by this "company".  I am not even the individual they are trying to contact so I was doing the right thing requesting that my number be disassociated with the case number.  The person that answered called me a liar and told me I was ignorant and proceeded to tell me that there had not been a call made to my number; well excuse me but how would I know your number and the case number if it had not been left on my answering machine?  Seriously, avoid any dealings if you get called.
