- Frauded| 3 replies**TXU ENERGY FRAUD** Claimed to be Jose Ramirez #2233 from TXU Energy and their online system had a virus. Needed to make a payment or if not my services would be discontinued. Asked for account number and payment over the phone. When I looked online while on the phone my account was in good standing, and no balance was due. He let me know there was a glitch and it would take a few business days for my account to reflect a payment and balance.
I refused to pay over the phone, so he directed me to go to a local grocery store and purchase a Netspend reload card, making sure it wasn't a Visa or MC. He demanded to know how long it would take me to go make the payment and when he could call me back.
Upon calling TXU energy directly, my account was in good standings and they opened a fraud case. They advised TXU would never call and ask for payment over the phone, it would always be an automated phone call. He also confirmed Jose Ramirez #2233 was not a legitimate ID number. TXU advised not to make any payments over the phone and to ignore any other phone calls they tired to make.- Caller: TXU ENERGY FRAUD
- Concerned Citizen replies to Frauded| 2 repliesToday 4/4/15 I received a call from 1-866-978-5286; this time Jose Ramirez was a Reliant Energy representative and also claimed that he could help me avoid disconnection which would take place in about 25-30 minutes from the time he called me. The entire call was in Spanish, when I mentioned this post I had found about him posing as a TXU rep and committing fraud, he disconnected the call immediately. Thanks for the previous post!
Hoy 4/4/15 recibí una llamada del 1-866-978-5286; en esta ocasión José Ramírez se hizo pasar como un representante de la compañía de energía Reliant Energy. El me dijo que desconectarían la electricidad en 25-30 minutos, pero que me ayudaría para que no me la desconectaran. Toda la llamada fue en Español, cuando le mencione sobre información que había encontrado que decía que el era un representante de TXU y estaba cometiendo fraude, el desconecto su llamada inmediatamente.
