Someone called Lisa Brown called me from this #, claiming to be from IRS. She must have used the word IRS 10 times in 30 seconds to make sure I knew she was from IRS. She asked for my lawyers information as the IRS police/sheriff is out to arrest me on tax fraud/theft charge. I could get away from it by paying $1,585 right there and then!!! If I don't, the sheriff will come to my house in 45 minutes. It's been a whole day, never saw a sheriff or IRS police (LOL) ... I did however call back and speak with Lisa's boss, Peter at ext. 8511 yesterday after speaking with Lisa, he went on and on about the charges against me. Both Lisa and Peter have heavy Indian accents.

For comic relief, this is quite entertaining ... other than that, it's all BS!

Got call from this number today morning at around 11am guys name peter claiming IRS agent for tax fraudulent case and would get way by paying $1,586.
Please be aware of these guys. It is all BS IRS never calls please check IRS official website and they have warn people about such call scams and also have explain what is real IRS procedure to contact anybody if they need to.

We have been getting these calls for last several days. The caller with a heavy foreign accent  talks sternly about legal application regarding tax fraud. We told them to write to us regarding the issue.The supervisor is Lisa Brown. I had interesting talk with her, but will only talk to my spouse. If no call is returned by the spouse in 20 Minutes, the local sheriff will come to arrest, the person. I inquired about the location of the  tax office, which is located in Washington, DC--212,Bryant street, which is a home for sale. See the above links on this site for further action.
IRS WILL WRITE A LETTER, IF YOU OWE ANY TAXES. RESPOND ONLY TO LETTERS.

I just got the call from 866-978-5506 also from Michell. When I questioned, she put to her supervisor, Peter Pacheco. I told him IRS do not call and he got irate saying I am dumb as* and hung up.

Just an FYI to others - like other posts here I have been getting these calls for the past 8 months - most of the calls are heavy Indian accents - initially they would use foul Indian language (like the MotherF and SisterF equivalent in Hindi the indian language. Later on I contacted the police last august and they said just ignore these guys. I have stopped answering their calls and they left multiple threatening messages. I just delete the messages.  now since the last 2 months (Dec 2013 and Jan 2014) I have been getting calls which sometimes I will answer but the guys are not using foul language - when I talk in a stern voice they get scared and hang up. I have also been getting calls asking for my minor son and daughter and am ignoring them. Apparently they have got stolen tax records from state of south Carolina and other sources from where they have a reasonable amount of information to try to convince people that they are genuine. My thoughts just don't answer their calls and delete the voicemails. If you answer just yell at them. I have also got calls saying they will help me collect claims for some medical surgeries that I may have had....its all BS and Crap.

I got call from lisa brown today to asking about 1892 dollars for taxes.but I talk to someone they said it was bs.bacarefull from these bad people.

They will threaten of police arrest in 24 hrs if you don't make payment for the amount they tell you. They will also threaten that your bank account will be frozen, IRS will take your home and car and deport you somewhere...
These idiots will try to convince you to go to the bank and get cash and buy a money voucher so you can pay them... What a joke... IRS will never ask such a mode of payment even when communicating through mail...

Just laugh at them and ask if they have a mother... If so they should ask her what time were they born... Was a real bad time I am sure as they are not walking but running towards disaster by defrauding innocent people...

WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service today warned consumers about a sophisticated phone scam targeting taxpayers, including recent immigrants, throughout the country.

Victims are told they owe money to the IRS and it must be paid promptly through a pre-loaded debit card or wire transfer. If the victim refuses to cooperate, they are then threatened with arrest, deportation or suspension of a business or driver’s license. In many cases, the caller becomes hostile and insulting.

“This scam has hit taxpayers in nearly every state in the country.  We want to educate taxpayers so they can help protect themselves.  Rest assured, we do not and will not ask for credit card numbers over the phone, nor request a pre-paid debit card or wire transfer,” says IRS Acting Commissioner Danny Werfel. “If someone unexpectedly calls claiming to be from the IRS and threatens police arrest, deportation or license revocation if you don’t pay immediately, that is a sign that it really isn’t the IRS calling.” Werfel noted that the first IRS contact with taxpayers on a tax issue is likely to occur via mail
Other characteristics of this scam include:
Scammers use fake names and IRS badge numbers. They generally use common names and surnames to identify themselves.
Scammers may be able to recite the last four digits of a victim’s Social Security Number.
Scammers spoof the IRS toll-free number on caller ID to make it appear that it’s the IRS calling.
Scammers sometimes send bogus IRS emails to some victims to support their bogus calls.
Victims hear background noise of other calls being conducted to mimic a call site.
After threatening victims with jail time or driver’s license revocation, scammers hang up and others soon call back pretending to be from the local police or DMV, and the caller ID supports their claim.
If you get a phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS, here’s what you should do:
If you know you owe taxes or you think you might owe taxes, call the IRS at 1.800.829.1040. The IRS employees at that line can help you with a payment issue – if there really is such an issue.
If you know you don’t owe taxes or have no reason to think that you owe any taxes (for example, you’ve never received a bill or the caller made some bogus threats as described above), then call and report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 1.800.366.4484.
If you’ve been targeted by this scam, you should also contact the Federal Trade Commission and use their “FTC Complaint Assistant” at FTC.gov.  Please add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments of your complaint.
Taxpayers should be aware that there are other unrelated scams (such as a lottery sweepstakes) and solicitations (such as debt relief) that fraudulently claim to be from the IRS.
The IRS encourages taxpayers to be vigilant against phone and email scams that use the IRS as a lure. The IRS does not initiate contact with taxpayers by email to request personal or financial information.  This includes any type of electronic communication, such as text messages and social media channels. The IRS also does not ask for PINs, passwords or similar confidential access information for credit card, bank or other financial accounts. Recipients should not open any attachments or click on any links contained in the message. Instead, forward the e-mail to phishing@irs.gov.

You seem to be pretty good at foreign language like hindi... Nice.. The one who called me were latinos and can not even say 1 sentence in English without stammering... I guess it is a global racket...

Thanks for posting this information here... I hope there is a better way to safe gaurd good people... We can spend billions to make a trip to Mars but worry less about the devil at home... Well, Mars is more important I am sure...

Call them back at 866-978-5506 and the person will respond as IRS.

these idiots have called me as well. i would block my number and keep calling them all day and harass them .

We are being continuously harassed by callers from this # 1 866 978 5506. Same story, tax fraud and IRS is out to get us, heavy indian accents...calling themselves Mark Robinson...total BS...need to find these crooks and punish them asap.

They call me 3 times.  I simply threaten them that I will report you to police and said stop this BS. They hang up.
I think we all need pickup the phone and give them hard time.
