- ecco replies to Marie| 1 replyI just received a call from them regarding "check" fraud. I thought they were telling me someone had stolen my identity, but they were accusing me?? Who are these people> They scared me?? I have not done anything wrong.
- DJ replies to eccoMarie,
I have recieved numerous calls as well about the same issue. They also advised me they would subpeona me and my friends...... I havent wrote a check in years. - SWAT EnvironmentalThis company, identifying themselves as "GS and Associates" had an automated system which threatened legal action and slander. When I followed their instruction to "Press 1", the phone hung up. When I returned their call, an abrasive and accusatory individual presented themselves, requesting a file number. This type of threat should be interpreted as serious and, if fraudulent, handled by the appropriate Federal authorities.

- CSI had a coworker who I barely know call me today and tell me these people called her cell phone and left a message that I needed to take care of manners before August 17th. It is clearly October. Not sure how they got her cell number and how they knew we worked together. It is strange because she works in a total differen department and I have only seen her once in the hall. I have no idea who these people are and what they want. I could hardly understand the mumble. I am thinking it is a big scam!

- JeanieThis is a SCAM. They tried their crap with me too. They refuse to send any documentation of to who and what I owe. They just want a credit card number to settle this debt. NOT! What a JOKE!

- BEWAREIf anyone they call live in Texas run to your phone call Texas Attorney General and make a formal complaint. They will send you forms to fill out in the mail. This company, GS Holdings LLC is not bonded in the state of Texas therefore making them illegal to contact you. This information can be found out by contacting Secretary of State Office in Texas.

- jeanThese people called me today at work. Said they were calling to see if I have been to court or have been served. Naturally, I got concerned about what this would be about. This man proceeded to say, he was calling to help before I was served. I asked hime what this was about, he said criminal charges and check fraud. I told him he was incorrect. He then started calling me a loser, a dead beat and said he would call people I worked with to tell them I was horrible. Then he started laughing and said I bet you are going to file bankruptcy. I hung up on this nut. My next step from here is to file a complaint with the Missouri States Attorney and FTC. The only thing he provided in a normal tone was his phone number of the 866-980-4328, and GS Holdings and Associates. This is a scam

- Alert| 3 repliesGS Holdings and Associates recently called me claiming that I had committed check fraud and that they were going to prosecute me if I didn't pay them $650.00. When I started asking questions I got transferred to 3 different people in which they refused to even state their names & one of them was supposedly an attorney who threatened me with jail time. The call really scared me & I just gave them my bank information due to the threats and the confusion of the call. After the call, I did some research & realized they were some collection agency for payday loan companies. I've never even stepped foot in one of those cash advance places. I closed my bank account immediately, contacted the FTC because this collection company has broken so many FDCPA laws when they spoke to me. If you get a call from them, don't be stupid like me!! I can't believe I had someone scare me into giving such important information & it wasn't even my debt.

- sheila replies to Alert| 1 replythese people are horrible, they have called my work, asked for my general manager and proceeded to tell her that they were a private detective and that I had a warrant for my arrest and they were going to have me arrested at my work. scared her. scared me. they have called me wanting money, I asked them to send me documentation in the mail, they just said you know yooou owe it, just pay it, give us your bank account information. they are acting against the law and I am going to call the attorney generals office/
- Alfalfa replies to sheilaIf you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.
Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

- Utah| 1 replyThey just called me and my mother saying they had a case regarding check fraud for some unpaid payday loan. Well, according to the FTC and my federal rights, payday loans are NOT check fraud. So they're already violating that rule. Second, they have been calling non-stop with harassing tones and not providing any information -- second violation. Third, they're trying to collect on a debt that is 8 years ago that I paid for -- again, violation. These people are junk. Report them to the FTC and your state attorney general.

- KATT QUICKI'm starting to get phone calls from this company daily now. They used to call me once a week. It has nothing to do with me at all. I'm very tired of the harassment. I don't answer the phone, but they leave threatening messages, and it needs to stop.
