Do you have either internet, phone or tv from the little known company called Bell?

This is Bells loyalty group number.

I got call from them when I wanted to cancel my internet connection with them. They wanted to confirm it and ask if there was anything they could do to change my mind.

This is interesting, and makes sense. I'm a Bell customer, and recently received a 'note' telling me my contract was soon up.
Phone calls, unanswered, on Dec 16 and Dec 23 2008.
    No message left either time.

One Better - this number just called - I answered, and no one would talk to me, then they hung up.  Yep, just got a letter that my contract was up.

We keep getting calls from this number but nobody ever says anything ... one time I called back and it was Bell but when I tried it again now I got a fax on the line ... something is up with this number.

They called me today and said they were calling from/on behalf of (I can't recall now) Bell, and asked me for account information telling me that my account showed no activity and my account would be closing... I got sketched, told them I didn't have time, but to give me their number to call back. I then called Bell, and used the Bell customer service chat online and neither representatives I spoke/chatted to had any idea what this number was or why they were calling me, and assured me my account wasn't going to be cancelled... Just a bit dodgy...

That would be correct!  I just cancelled my Sympatico Internet after 6 months of relentless billing mistakes .... They're definitely trying to keep me as a customer, but even if they offered free everything for a year, I wouldn't take it!

This number started calling me on January 21, and has called everyday, twice per day I think.  If it's Bell, (ExpressVU in particular,  that makes sense because my contract is almost finished and I would have to be a person who loves abuse to renew with this bunch!  I didn't have any idea how gawdawful their products and services were when I contracted with them.

The rep I spoke to said this was Bell Internet's Loyalty Department.

They called me to try and retain my account but apparently the also call to renew contracts and offer to bundle their customers for "additional" savings.

    What ever.

I too had been getting countless calls (sometimes 3x daily) from this number for the last few weeks. Always calling while I am out or when I can't get to the phone but they never leave a voice mail. Finally they called me on a Monday night at almost 9pm. I picked up the phone and finally got to speak to a live person this time. They are from some company (didn't catch the name) calling on behalf of Bell Canada.

For a company that is supposedly calling on behalf of Bell Canada, they certainly didn't know very darned much about my account and kept asking me questions that Bell customer service should already have the answers to. This guy didn't have my name correct at first or know if I had Bell Mobility cellphone or not. I agree with post above from "sketched out", it sure sounded dodgy to me too. I finally asked this person to add me to their do not call list and I called Bell Canada directly at 310-BELL. The customer service representative I spoke with was very helpful. She wasn't certain if that was one of Bell's outsourced client care companies but she did forward my concerns to Bell Customer Care manager. I received a call back from Bell Canada the very next day and they were apologetic. Bell does contract out some of their client care calls as most companies do these days. Apparently my complaints were just one of many Bell has received recently about these calls. The Bell manager that called me back assured me that they would and have already addressed the issues with their call staff and again apologized. She also did review my account and managed to both upgrade my internet plan and change my long distance plan while saving me over $14/month. So that turned out to be a winning situation.

I always find that it is better to deal directly with these companies rather than their outsourced help. I just wish these big companies would realize how much business they actually lose by cutting corners with low quality outsourced agencies. If you receive a call from this toll free number it is probably best for you to contact Bell Canada directly. It may save you some money too. :)

I was called from this number and woman with strong Indian accent said me that my internet Bell contract will finish soon and asked if I am going to renew it. However I do not have contract with the Bell. So, I just said that I am going to disconnect from the Bell at all.

I just cancelled my Bell internet account a couple hours ago. (They admitted to the error, but will only make the adjustment ($$) starting this month when I noticed it). Told them at the time I would likely be cancelling my home phone also, to take advantage of a bundle package. The supervisor certainly didn't car.

So, just received a call from this number. I answered, but no sound so I hung up. Found out afterwards from this website it was probably Bell Loyalty.

They keep calling on Saturday's on Sunday’s on Monday’s and on Wednesday's, to find out what? To keep harassing me into discovering  if I'm satisfied with Bell service?

Bell practices questionable marketing schemes by withholding information from their clients, so they wont be capable of determining the extent of what services they are using.

Case in point... try to read your bill...better yet if your being charged monthly for downloading, try to ask them for the amount you downloaded to date (before your month is up) as not to go over your limit (and be charged extra.) They'll tell you "we won’t have that information available for another 60hours! One rep. actually had the cahuntas to tell me "there's no software available on the market to display that information in real time...What a croc.." I'm a bloody engineer and software specialist, trust me… applications exist for almost anything and everything.

Landlines are dinosaur technologies. The longer it takes the layperson to figure that out… the better Bell feels.

I canceled my Internet Services with Bell as well, and I did this just a week ago on 05/22/09. Surprisingly after having talked to 2 different CSR agents about canceling my service, and requesting them to send me a modem return kit so I could return their modem to them, I get an interesting call from Bell's Loyalty Department, a 1-800 number of theirs which I wasn't even aware existed! So, this has been an ongoing thing for a week now from Bell, and I still haven't received the modem return kit they said they would send which would take 3-5 business days to arrive. Well, 5 business days have already passed since I placed the call in for cancellation, and I'm still waiting! Bell Customer Loyalty?! Hah!! What a joke! That's why I switched to a better service provider. People, you're better to go with Yak for all your phone and Internet needs. Trust me, you can't go wrong with them and no forced contracts to undergo either.

    I Agree replies to Mary-ann29
I totally agree with you Mary-ann29, Bell really needs to pull it's act together and understand that it's clients / customers are what drives it's business, but low and behold it would not come as much of a surprise to me if this lumbering green-eyed glutton of a corporate giant fell to it knees in a thundering crash. Given the notion that there is plenty of hard evidence that Bell's only interest is not in retaining it's so called long time loyal customers, but in shamelessly being the big cash grab cow that it is. You see their only interest is in taking money from those who pay for their services and in return offer poor customer service and support for even poorer products and services.

Final verdict: Be a smart consumer, don't overlook smaller businesses and providers who offer similar services at a lower cost than what the big corporate pigs would feed off of. After all it is your money, and you work hard for it.

    Not a guy named Abe
Given my internet status, there is absolutely zero reason for 866-988-0885 to have called this number, so it has been flagged with a sense of dubiosity.

I am in the process of carrying out my due diligence to arrive at a conclusion; as to the source of this call. Upon reflection, I think someone was trying to pump me for information.

    Continued.

Through a chain of e-mails and phone contact, I've finally been put in contact with a level-3 techie at BCE that has agreed to assist me in determining:

if the call I received did in fact originate on the telephone lines of BCE or if it was somehow being spoofed from an unknown origin. *57 is not an option since this call occurred two weeks ago.
