I got a call from this number on my cell phone.  The mechanical sounding voice said they were with Publishers Clearing House.  I couldn't understand the voice's name and can't remember if they used my name.  When I interrupted to say I was at work and not interested, they hung up before I could ask to be removed from the calling list.

DO NOT CALL THAT NUMBER BACK!

    1) The call was from a scammer, trying to entice you to send money
    2) If you return the call, it will cost you money!  (Keep reading)
    3) The 876 (Jamaica) prefix is VERY frequently used by scammers, and WILL cost you money if you call it back.

Some area codes are not toll-free numbers and calls from any other area code are billed at international long distance rates.

Some curious people return the call and will immediately be charged $19.95 for an international call fee and an additional $9-per-minute charge, according to a news release from the BBB.

Here is a list of some area codes that will be billed as international calls:

Look at the bill! Ouch! replies to Chris
Yoo Hoo! Jamaica! You know - the Island nation of Jamaica? As in International. You are not calling Burbank, you're calling a foreign country. It's not 10 cents a minute. International rates & connection charges apply. So yes, the comment is true.

    A real person
I live in Alaska and I just was contacted by this number today Dec 3, 2014 at 7:50 am with the very same thing. First of all the person called me and said "hello" about three times then hung up. As soon as that conversation ended (lol) the phone rings again. I answered promptly thinking this call could be an important one. He asked me how was I doing this morning my only response was "tired" then he started telling me I was selected just as he told the other people listed here. The wierd thing was he said he was driving from Wasilla to Anchorage with my prize ready to be delivered to me at my door. Another thing was he said I had to drop everything and quickly go to the nearest Fred Meyer and spend money. At first I was about to run out of my house with out my coat on to get to that Fred Meyer and get that green card but when I told him I couldn't do it until I dropped my son off at school in a little over an hour he became very adament about me getting this green dot card. He also wanted me to stay on the phone with him as I got into my car which was very suspect to me. So as I "went to my car"  yeah right! grabbed my  ipad I googled the number which led me to this website while he was on mute. After I found proof this was a real scam I took him off mute at the same time he was asking me what was I doing as if to see if I would ever tell anybody I don't know my every step I replied "I'm hanging up" and eneded the conversation with a click!  I then contacted KTUU and informed them about what happened so they could let the general public about the threat of a scam.

Call from Kingston, Jamaica came in on my cell. I had not intended to answer but accidentally hit accept when I picked up the phone. Before I could say anything, the caller started yelling, "HELLO! HELLO! HELLO!" I hung up.

These crooks call me several times per week. All Jamaica phone scams, always a different spoofed number so blocking just uses up all empty slots in call blocking. I started answering lately just to mess with them and turn things around on them. It is actually funny to see these guys in action when they think they have a sucker. You can waste 10 to 15 min of time playing dumb and making them into the sucker.

When they tell you to go to store to wire $ ask them to send a car for you etc. Just keep messing with them and the result is so hilarious. It will be the best feeling in the World vs getting mad at these thieves. Act handicapped, [***], but loaded with $ and they will jump through so many loops you throw at them. Idiots!!!

After about 10 minutes I like to tell them the IP was traced and look outside your window. The reaction is priceless "man" in my finest Jaimacan accent. RFLMAO

Absolutely never call that number back. Toll # and international and part of the back up scam.
